The Research and Development unit works to enable, manage, and promote the creation and dissemination of relevant research and learning materials addressing important management issues that are faced by leaders who act thoughtfully and with compassion to build better communities locally and globally. **Responsibilities**: **Qualifications**: - Education: - University Degree - Master’s Degree in a related field (e.g., statistical, actuarial science and/or qualitative analysis) preferred - Experience: - 5 years’ experience working in a research funding environment - 5 years’ experience working in a research funding environment and experience working with faculty members on the development of research grant proposals is preferred - 3 years’ experience working with large-scale data; preferably research-administrative data is preferred - Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: - Knowledge of current MS Office programs, Western’s ROLA system, Peoplesoft, Qualtrics, WREM, Crystal Reports, and Symplectic/Elements. Familiarity with programming languages such as SQL, HTML, JavaScript, and Python. Familiarity with relevant mathematical, statistical and data visualization software (e.g., R, SAS etc.) - Familiarity with external data sources and repositories - Knowledge of mathematical formulas in reporting and spreadsheet software programs. - Proven superior analytical and interpretive skills, with demonstrated ability to solve problems and synthesize information from a wide variety of sources into usable reports and professional presentations. - In-depth knowledge of best practices for reviewing and writing grant proposals; and of the internal and external faculty, sponsor, and peer-review granting systems, processes and procedures. - Knowledge of and experience with research funding, practices, ethics, and presentation - Knowledge of university ranking bodies and methods and of business journals impact factors - Comprehensive data collection, management, interpretation, analysis, and data visualization skills (quantitative and qualitative) - Comprehensive knowledge of data related to sponsored research, institutional rankings and research impact - Ability to respond to competing and sometimes conflicting requests from multiple leaders in a diplomatic, transparent and professional manner - Previous work experience in an academic research environment preferred **Western Values Diversity**: **Please Note**: We thank all applicants for their interest; however, only those chosen for an interview will be contacted.
