**Salary**: $2,573.44 to $3,534.18 bi-weekly ($67,167 - $92,242/year)

The Alberta Public Service (APS) is taking a One Finance approach to the delivery of financial services. This competition will be used to fill a variety of positions at the Budget Officer 2 classification level across the Government of Alberta.

Alberta Infrastructure is responsible for delivering about one quarter of the Alberta government's Capital Plan which is working to address the provincial infrastructure needs of Alberta’s population, and supporting key social programs and services and economic development.

The Ministry designs, builds, manages and maintains government-owned and operated facilities and collaborates with other ministries to ensure that school and hospital infrastructure meet the needs of Alberta’s population.

Infrastructure provides accommodation services and manages a large portfolio of owned and leased facilities while maintaining fiscal accountability and optimizing value for Albertans.

**Role Responsibilities**:
As the successful Budget Analyst, you will be involved in the coordination, analysis and monitoring of budgets related to an assigned portfolio. This involves the assembly, review and analysis of the Ministry’s annual three-year revenue and expenditure plans and the preparation of appropriate background information in support of analysis and recommendations for use by Executive Team, Deputy Minister and Minister in defense of budget plans and results to Treasury Board and Finance, Committee of Supply and Public Accounts Committee.

Your Responsibilities include:

- Communicating with clients at the highest level to meet client needs and expectations.
- Assisting in the preparation and delivery of budget training and awareness programs throughout the Ministry.
- Coordinatinge the preparation of detailed budgets for assigned Division(s).
- Preparing annual expense and revenue budgets, along with three-year fiscal targets and related briefing materials for the Minister and Deputy Minister for use at Cabinet, Treasury Board and Committee of Supply meetings.
- Preparing budget and briefing materials as part of the budget process to ensure the Ministry receives adequate resources to provide quality programs.
- Collecting statistical data required for various research projects, including analysis of program performance.
- Reviewing Ministry spending to ensure it is within approved voted estimates and established controls.
- Preparinge quarterly forecasts of expenses and revenues, including dedicated revenue projections, for submission to the Ministry of Treasury Board and Finance, and Treasury Board.
- Preparinge medium and long-range forecasts and cash flow requirements, and monitoring current expenditure trends.
- Maintaining a formalized expenditure review process, identifying projected over/under expenditures, and alerting management to areas of financial concern.
- Assisting in the development of financial reports to support management decision making, using advanced reporting tools such as Excel and SAP queries.
- Participating in branch and unit business planning activities.
- Ensuring other staff within the branch are informed of issues that impact their work area.
