Reporting to the Senior Manager, Project Controls, the Junior Cost Specialist supports cost management activities across assigned projects. This entry-level role assists in developing and maintaining cost control structures, monitoring project expenditures, and ensuring accurate financial reporting. The Junior Cost Specialist provides foundational support to the project controls team, contributing to effective cost management and decision-making.

What You Will Be Working On- Assist in setting up and maintaining cost control structures, including Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) and Cost Breakdown Structures (CBS).- Support project management systems with accurate cost, quantity, and hours data.- Perform data entry tasks to ensure timely and accurate financial information.- Monitor project expenditures against budgets and assist in analyzing variances.- Help prepare internal and external financial reports, including cost performance updates.- Provide administrative support for tracking key performance indicators (KPIs) related to cost control.- Assist in gathering data for cost trend analysis to identify potential issues and support corrective actions.- Contribute to the preparation of monthly invoices and financial submissions to clients.-
- Provide support in estimating and tendering activities for assigned projects.

What We Are Looking For

Essential:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, or a related field.- 0-3 years of relevant experience in a related field.- Intermediate capability in Microsoft Excel, including data entry and basic formulas.- Strong attention to detail with a focus on data accuracy.- Good organizational and time management skills to meet project deadlines.- Effective communication skills for team collaboration.- Ability to manage and prioritize own workload effectively.

Preferred:
- Certified cost professional through AACE (Association for the Advancement of Cost Engineering) or working towards certification is an asset.- Exposure to construction or contracting environments.- Understanding of different contracting styles and cost control practices.- Relevant office or site-based project experience.- Familiarity with project planning in a construction environment.
