**The Job - Water Damage Technician**

At On Side, Water Damage Technicians (WDTs) go wherever a burst pipe, blocked drain, sewer backup (yes, sometimes it’s one of those situations) or other water-related disaster calls. Understanding the urgency of the situation and working with customers in a caring, calm and empathetic manner are paramount to the success of a WDTs day

Working as a team, WDTs mop up the mess to ensure everything is shipshape and ready to get back to the pre-disaster state.

**What you bring**:
A WDT bring a host of abilities to their work with a ‘get it done’ attitude.

Additional abilities include:

- Previous industry experience dealing with water damage and drying tools
- Physically fit— water damage can include heavy lifting (moving furniture and appliances) and getting into (and out of) tight places
- Mechanical aptitude— you can look at something and just know how it works
- Able and willing to drive company cargo trucks
- Detail oriented and curious
- Organized with a good sense of time— you’re rarely late and know where all your tools are
- Friendly and enjoys working in a team, including helping out the Contents Team when needed
- A safety-first mindset
- Valid driver’s licence & clean drivers abstract
- Able to successfully satisfy On Side’s criminal record check requirements
- Ability to communicate in English at an intermediate level

**Other stuff that will contribute to your success but isn’t required**:

- IICRC Water Damage Technician Certification (if you don’t have this, we’ll help you get it)

**Of Note**

Disasters can strike at any time so a rotating schedule of 24/7 after hours on-call work is a requirement.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $22.00-$24.00 per hour

Schedule:

- 8 hour shift
- Monday to Friday
- On call
- Overtime
- Weekends as needed

- Do you have experience with drying tools (air movers, negative air machines, pressurized drying systems, floor drying systems, dehumidifiers)?
- Do you have any experience with demolition? If yes, please describe what you have demolished and tools you have used.

- Are you able to work later than scheduled when required? A job may require an additional hour or two of overtime to be fully complete. Being available to work a bit extra to get the job done is helpful (vs returning the next day for a quick finish). Overtime is paid.
- Are you a good communicator? This job requires in-depth discussions with homeowners and co-workers. Being patient and calm is a must. Please describe your capability and attitude when dealing with all people:

- Do you live in Mississauga, Brampton or Milton? If not, another On Side Restoration branch might be a closer location to you.
- Are you physically fit? Can you lift 50lbs and walk upstairs when required? Are you capable of repetitive heavy lifting? Moving furniture, appliances and boxes are the norm in this position so being physically capable is a requirement.
