Our Engineering client is hiring a Manager - Controls & Automation to join their growing team.

**Responsibilities**
- Assists the team in developing challenging goals. Coaches direct reports for continually improved performance. Evaluates performance and development progress of direct reports and makes compensation recommendations. Addresses conflict and performance issues.
- Creates and maintains an environment that promotes accountability, responsibility, ownership, teamwork, respect, energy, and efficiency.
- Manages staffing requirements to support project workload through associate development, transfers, and hires
- Develops and maintains subcontractor/supplier partners to address turnkey managed-task scopes and forecasted resource peak overloads
- Assists engineers and technicians in prioritizing tasks and activities for multiple projects.
- Assists with establishing departmental budget targets, analyzing variances, and identifying cost reduction opportunities.
- Collaborate with Applications, Project, Operations, Support, and QA teams to build tooling/infrastructure and documentation that helps meet the needs of departments
- Provide a clear and direct process for our Engineering team to collaborate across departments and prioritize their workload.
- Collaborate with technical leads to prioritize work, ensure the team has the appropriate skills and size to accomplish goals and remove any roadblocks from the team’s path.
- Continually explore innovative business practices and determine fit for the team and the company.
- Recruit, onboard, manage and retain a team of Programmers, Controls Designers, Mechatronics Engineers, and Interims.
- Responsible for all projects regarding design budget, schedule and performance.
- Identifies areas of need and opportunities for training of existing or industry-leading technology and development to ensure the department's effectiveness, industry relevancy, and competitiveness.
- Support and maintain ISO 9001 quality assurance program in the division.
- Ensures all required QA and designated compliance training is identified, scheduled, attended, and effectiveness is monitored to ensure content is understood and applied.
- Responsible for reviewing all Cyber Security\IT policies and ensuring respective subordinates and subcontractors comply with them.
- Oversee and foster an effective ERP implementation, process improvements and involvement of all employees.
- Monitor and ensure ERP data entry compliance and reporting among reports
- Supports the BD & Marketing Team on active and potential proposals, business leadership development, opportunity meetings with prospective leads/clients, etc.
- Prepares marketing content as required and requested concerning Automation & Controls aspects of the business
- Acquires market intel on opportunities, competition, etc. and shares with management for consideration

**Qualifications**
- Engineering Degree or Science Degree
- 15 years’ minimum technical experience within the Automation industry
- Solid working knowledge of the following:

- Strong project management skills
- Canadian Codes and Standards (CEC, ESA, CSA Z432, etc.)
- Other Industry Standards (NEC, NFPA 79, OSHA, RIA, cGMP, GAMP)
- Electrical circuits and sizing (AC/DC circuits, power, transformers, motors, circuit protection)
- Sensors (analog, digital, high speed, inductive, optical, wiring methods, interfacing and conditioning)
- PLCs (hardware and software) Rockwell, Siemens, Mitsubishi, others
- SCADA (hardware and software)
- PC (hardware, software, configuring, programming)
- PC software (MS Office, AutoCAD Electrical, Internet, E Plan)
- Motion (Drives and motors, Servos, Feedback and Closed Loop Control),
- Robots (Fanuc, Motoman,CSA Z434, Safety and Programming).
