**POSITION TITLE: Food Service Worker**

**REPORTING TO: Food Services Director and Supervisor**

**DEPARTMENT: Food Services**

**POSITION PURPOSE**:
The Food Service Worker is a member of the Food Services Team and will be responsible for providing high quality meal and high level of customer service to the residents of the Glebe Centre.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- **Must be enrolled in or completed the Food Service Worker Program from an approved College.**:

- **Current safe food handling certificate**, knowledge of quantity food production
- Experience in healthcare, optimally Long Term Care operations
- Well-developed English language skills, comprehension, oral and written

**REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES**:

- Knowledge of WHMIS and MSDS, fall protection and chemical use instruction.
- Flexibility and the ability to work well under pressure in a kitchen environment
- A high degree of initiation and ability to work well with minimum supervision
- Ability to safely lift 50 pounds
- Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time
- Demonstrated commitment to courteous, sincere, and sensitive customer service. Presents a positive and caring attitude in all interactions. Shows patience, tolerant, accepts diversity, and presents a positive image of themselves in all professional interactions
- Ability to work in a culturally diverse environment

**FUNCTIONS**:
**Ensures high quality Resident & Guest meals by**:

- Preparing and serving safe, nutritious, and appealing meals
- Ensuring residents receive proper diet as per care plan & special menus
- Maintaining work area in a clean, orderly and sanitary condition
- Maintaining inventory of work area
- Setting up and clearing tables
- Washing dishes, pots and pans
- Putting away food orders
- Following proper storage guidelines

**Communicates with team members by**:

- Attending team in-services
- Keeping Director, Supervisor and Dietitian updated with any concerns
- Documenting food service actions; noting areas of concern
- Maintain knowledge by attending educational and participating in in-house in-services including Surge Learning and mandatory training.
- Uphold and promote the organization’s values and philosophy relating particularly to ethics, morality, and integrity as set out in The Glebe Centre’s ethical and Professional Codes of Conduct.
- Other job related duties as required

**HOURS OF WORK**:As scheduled.

**SALARY LEVEL**: $22.26 to $25.10 As per the CUPE Agreement

**JOB TYPE**:Casual**

**WORK LOCATION**: The Glebe Centre, 77 Monk Street, Ottawa, Ontario K1S 5S7

**SHIFT**: Days
- Evening and Weekend availability

**Job Type**: Casual

Pay: $22.26-$25.10 per hour
