Our portfolio company is a leading manufacturing company committed to delivering high-quality products while maintaining efficient financial operations. We are looking for a detail-oriented and motivated Assistant Controller to join our finance team and support our growing manufacturing operations.
As part of a portfolio company, the Assistant Controller will have reporting requirements, exposure to investors, and potential acquisition and growth opportunities typical of private equity investments.
**Job Summary**
**Key Responsibilities**
1. Financial Reporting:
- Assist with the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts.
- Assist in preparing cost and profitability analyses for different departments and product lines.
- Provide financial analysis for manufacturing performance, including variance analysis and recommendations for cost-saving opportunities.
2. Cost Accounting and Inventory Management:
- Analyze and track the cost of raw materials to ensure accurate product costing.
- Reconcile inventory records and ensure proper valuation of inventory, including raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods.
- Review manufacturing variances and provide explanations for discrepancies.
- Track inventory movements, ensuring alignment between physical counts and financial records.
3. Banking:
- Prepare and review Bank Reconciliations.
- Set up wire transfers/ACH/Electronic payments accurately.
4. Internal Controls and Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting policies.
- Assist with external audits and regulatory reporting as required.
- Support the implementation of new accounting policies or systems to improve accuracy and efficiency.
5. Continuous Improvement:
- Suggest process improvements for cost tracking, inventory management, and financial reporting.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, purchasing, and sales, to optimize costs and improve overall financial performance.
**Qualifications**
**Education**:
- College Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA certification is a plus.
**Experience**:
- At least 3-5 years of experience in accounting in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with ERP systems and accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks, etc.).
- Knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
**Skills**:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent attention to detail with a focus on accuracy and efficiency.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other financial software.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work with multiple departments.
- Proficiency in English is essential.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
Working Conditions:
- Full-time position with occasional overtime as needed.
- Office-based position with occasional visits to the manufacturing floor.
