Professor, Personal Support Worker

Sheridan is looking for outstanding individuals to join our faculty team in the Personal Support Worker program. This program offers students a comprehensive set of practical and critical skills, as well as knowledge in enhancing the quality of life for clients in the healthcare field. We are looking for part-time professors to teach in the following courses and clinical instructors to supervise clinical placement within PSW program.

- BIOL19702 Structure and Function of the Human Body
- HEAL13551 Caring for Clients with Ongoing Conditions

- HEAL4857 Palliative Care for the Allied Health Worker
- FLPL18036 PSW Clinical Placement

Sheridan professors are responsible for developing an effective learning environment for students while respecting their diverse cultural and educational backgrounds, experiences, and individual learning styles.

**What You’ll Be Doing**

- Delivering course curriculum in classroom and/or online, which includes ensuring student awareness of course objectives, approach and evaluation techniques (course delivery will be in an accelerated [intense] program format with 10.5 hours of instruction per week);
- Tutoring and academic counselling of students, while evaluating student progress/achievement and assuming responsibility for the overall assessment of the students’ work within assigned courses;
- Defining, evaluating and validating learning outcomes and designing appropriate strategies and tools for assessing student learning;
- Developing individualized instruction and multi-media presentations and incorporating technology into the learning process where applicable; Attending periodic faculty meetings.

- Registered Practical Nurse, or BScN preferred, with 3 years experience in Long Term Care or Community Healthcare setting or a related field.
- Registration with the CNO.
- Minimum of 3 years related professional experience.
- Advanced knowledge in Dementia Care and Mental Health.
- Practical experience in Long Term Care working with PSWs.
- Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, Adobe Acrobat.
- Experience in teaching and curriculum development at the post-secondary level or equivalent experience as a trainer in Healthcare. Network of contacts with other professionals in the Healthcare industry.
