**Overview**

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Mobile Drug Checking Outreach Worker to provide essential harm reduction services in various Lower Mainland communities. This role involves operating a mobile drug-checking van, offering critical support to individuals who use substances and are at risk of overdose.

Our mobile drug-checking, harm reduction, and supportive social services focus on supporting vulnerable populations in New Westminster, Burnaby, Tri-Cities, and Maple Ridge areas. By joining our team, you will play a crucial role in preventing opioid overdoses and promoting safer substance use practices in our communities.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Drive and operate the drug-checking van across multiple communities
- Perform on-site drug checking using BTNX test strips and specialized equipment
- Distribute harm reduction supplies, including Naloxone kits, safer use equipment, and hygiene items
- Provide education on safer substance use and harm reduction practices
- Respond to overdose situations and provide life-saving interventions
- Collect and maintain accurate data on service delivery and drug samples
- Build trusting relationships with clients and provide referrals to additional services
- Collaborate with the Program Coordinator to implement opioid overdose prevention strategies
- Maintain the cleanliness and supply stock of the drug-checking van
- Safely recover used syringes from various communities

**Qualifications**
- Valid BC Class 5 driver's license with a clean driving abstract
- Skill required to drive a utility van
- Two-year diploma in a relevant field (e.g., social work, community health, mental health and addictions studies) or equivalent. Extensive experience may be considered in lieu of formal training
- Demonstrated experience working with marginalized populations, including people who use substances
- Strong understanding of harm reduction principles and social determinants of health
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Non-judgmental approach and ability to maintain healthy boundaries
- Capacity to function effectively in crisis situations
- Knowledge of local resources and community services
- Physical ability to lift up to 15 pounds and navigate stairs with equipment
- Willingness to undergo a criminal record check
