Supermarket Cashier Supervisor

Our **Cashier Supervisor** is responsible for overseeing the front-end operations of a supermarket, ensuring that cashiering activities run smoothly, efficiently, and in accordance with store policies. This role involves the ability to work in a fast-paced environment: supervising cashiers, handling customer service issues, managing cash flow & daily cash operations, reconciling cash records at the end of each day, reporting to the General Manager, and ensuring a positive shopping experience for customers.

**General Responsibilities**:
**Staff Supervision**
- Supervise, train, schedule, and support a team of cashiers and baggers.
- Monitor cashier performance and provide coaching or corrective action when needed.
- Ensure adherence to store policies and procedures at the checkout area.

**Cash Handling**
- Reconcile cash drawers at shift changes and end of the day.
- Assist with cash drops, safe counts, and bank deposits.
- Investigate and resolve cash discrepancies or register errors.

**Customer Service**
- Handle escalated customer complaints or concerns quickly and professionally.
- Ensure front-end team provides friendly, accurate, and efficient service.
- Assist customers with issues related to pricing, returns, or payment.

**Operational Support**
- Ensure all registers are open and staffed during peak hours.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the checkout area.
- Report maintenance or technical issues with POS systems to management.

**Training and Development**
- Onboard and train new cashier staff.
- Conduct refresher training on POS systems, procedures, and customer service skills.
- Promote a positive team environment and high morale among cashiers.

**Qualifications**:

- Minimum high school diploma or equivalent.
- Prior experience as a cashier; supervisory experience preferred.
- Experience in retail or supermarket environments is an advantage.
- Strong leadership and people management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal/people skills.
- Proficient in using Point-of-Sale (POS) systems.
- Good numerical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to multitask and stay calm under pressure.
- Work may or may not include weekends, to be discussed.
- Physical tasks include standing for long periods and light lifting.
- Able to work in fast-paced and customer-facing environment.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 - 50 per week
