**Boathouse Manager**

At St. Michaels University School, we are fortunate to have our own purpose-built rowing centre on the beautiful Gorge waterway. Reporting to the Head of Rowing, the Boathouse Manager supports the operational activities of the School’s rowing team.

Hours of work vary depending upon operational needs, and include mornings, afternoons and weekends, as well as some travel for regattas. This position works 12 months of the year.

**Key Responsibilities and Expectations**:

- Maintain rowing and safety equipment in good condition
- Opens the training facilities at the boathouse and our dryland training centre on Derby Rd. as required, to ensure facilities and equipment is ready for training when athletes arrive, then closes the facilities after training
- Manage operations at the SMUS Rowing Centre to ensure SMUS crews are able to train at times designated by the Head of Rowing
- Maintain the rowing trailer
- Organize trailer loading and unloading for regattas
- Ensure the loaded trailer complies with safety regulations, and drive the rowing trailer
- Coordinate site set-up and management, and support rigging/derigging at regattas
- Conduct basic maintenance of the rowing dock
- Ensure on water activities comply with safety parameters
- Manages the budget for the Boathouse, equipment purchases, and repairs.
- Maintain equipment inventories
- Represent the rowing program on Rowing Canada and Rowing BC committees and special projects as requested by the Head of Rowing
- Serve as SMUS primary liaison for Brown Cup and other activities with UVic and UBC
- Coordinate SMUS XPE rowing program and SMUS summer rowing camp
- Other duties as required
- Minimum Class 5 driver’s license with experience towing trailers
- Have and maintain a clean drivers abstract
- Strong communication skills
- Comfort dealing with a range of stakeholders who operate on the Gorge
- Enthusiastic, energetic, a self-starter with the ability to work independently
- Ability to problem solve and quickly implement solutions
- Rowing experience, rigging knowledge and basic boat maintenance is required, with a preference for rowing coach certification
- Hold a Pleasure Craft Operators Card, or commit to obtaining one within 30 days of commencing work
- Hold a Restricted Operators Certificate (Maritime) for radio operation or be capable of obtaining one through an available course
- Basic knowledge and ability to use Microsoft computer program
- Working knowledge of budget preparation and monitoring

**Pay Range**:
Annual Salary: $60,597 - $71,267

**Criminal Record Check**:
Must pass and maintain a clear Solicitor General criminal record check for the purpose of working with children.

Pay: $60,597.00-$71,267.00 per year
