As a freelance interpreter on the MCIS roster, you will provide spoken interpretation services in various community settings, including hospitals, police stations, tribunal hearings, schools, and more. Your primary responsibility will be to facilitate communication by interpreting between English and Gujarati for individuals facing language barriers.

**Key Responsibilities**:*
- Perform accurate and professional spoken interpretation in community settings.
- Demonstrate cultural sensitivity and a commitment to supporting vulnerable populations by breaking down linguistic barriers.
- Travel to assignment locations using a car, public transportation, or other means.
- Complete over-the-phone or video interpretation assignments, which can be done remotely from home.

**Requirements**:*
- Fluency in both English and Gujarati (written and spoken).
- Strong reading proficiency to translate written materials orally.
- Excellent interpersonal and soft skills, including empathy, patience, and a willingness to serve diverse communities.
- Ability to travel to various locations as needed.
- Legal entitlement to work in Canada.

**Training and Support**:*
- If you are new to interpretation, a short online training module will be provided, which you must complete before starting assignments.
