**POSITION OVERVIEW**:
Reporting to the Estimating Manager, you will have the opportunity to create estimates for large and complex projects, be involved in the full cycle of tenders, and bring innovative cost-effective solutions to various problems discovered during the bid preparation, design, rates, schedules, etc.

- Eastern Canada District's projects include highways, bridges, mass transit, mine site development & open pit operations, hydroelectric powerhouses, wind-power plants, dams & industrial. The serve the construction and mining industries and operates in Eastern Canada.**LOCATION**:

**RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Work with your peer estimators in the preparation of check estimates for other work
- Review estimates prepared by other estimating groups and/or JV partners to determine completeness of data, procedures, and provide support in resolving differences in bid items
- Review owner plans and specifications to obtain a comprehensive understanding of the project; developing plan for the actual construction to serve as basis for the estimate
- Reviews all bids, contract documents, and home office legal department advices
- Conduct site visits, prior to creating a plan of operations, to identify any problems or unusual conditions, mitigate risks, and collect information
- Collect quotes and negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors while developing a strong relationship with them
- Handle any major technical problems encountered during bid preparation
- Stay abreast of trends and developments of the building industry, such as new equipment, methods, and procedures
- Prepare special engineering studies or reports required by certain bid items or conditions

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Undergraduate or graduate degree in Civil or Construction Management
- 0-2 years of experience in a similar role. Experience in major construction projects is an asset
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in French and English
- Exceptionally strong attention to detail with the ability to recognize discrepancies
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, and negotiation skills
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office products (e.g. Excel, Work, Outlook, PowerPoint)
