General Maintenance Technician

HyLand was formed in 2012 to manage the donation of a large portfolio of rental and development properties across B.C. to the Mennonite Central Committee (MCC).

The intent of the donor was to provide for the basic necessities of those in greatest need around the world - and he believed that MCC had the right experience and track record to implement this vision

HyLand functions like an endowment in preserving and growing the capital base and annually donating revenue back to MCC to fund its international relief and development programs. Part of HyLand’s mandate is to facilitate similar legacy donations for those who would like to devote a portion of their wealth to help create a better world. The endowment principle ensures that these donations can continue to have an impact in perpetuity. HyLand functions as a sophisticated real estate investor and is actively involved in land development, property management, and ground-up construction.

We are looking for **Maintenance Technician**to support the operations of the company. This is a full-time, permanent position with benefits and opportunities for growth. This is a day shift -you are required to work on-site full time. You will be reporting to the property manager and maintenance supervisor. The **Maintenance Technician**will perform tasks related to the general maintenance of buildings includes execute minor repair work, maintain equipment and installations and perform preventive inspection of systems relating to building mechanics.

**Essential Duties & Responsibilities**

As the **Maintenance Technician**your key responsibilities will include:

- Conduct routine inspections and assess the conditions of assigned buildings and premises
- Perform preventative maintenance tasks and operate minor repairs to heating, cooling, ventilating, plumbing and electrical systems
- Perform other routine maintenance jobs such as painting and drywall repair
- Maintain inventory of supplies and equipment and make minor purchases as required
- Provide excellent customer service to renters/residents by quickly responding their to requests for minor repairs and perform daily inspections on the building systems
- Provide general assistance to maintenance managers as well as the mechanics, electricians, carpenters and plumbers
- Coordinate the preparation of housing units prior to the arrival of new residents
- Ensure that security and safety measures are in place in the establishment
- May move heavy furniture, equipment and supplies, and supervise other workers.

**Required Skills & Qualifications**
- High school education is required, or college diploma
- At least 6 months to 1 year of work experience in building and general maintenance is preferred
- Excellent communication skills, customer service skills, and multitasking ability
- Must be accurate, organized, and highly detailed-oriented.
- Ability to direct and supervise.
- Able to work with minimum supervision.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $20.00-$25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
