**About the Job**
Are you passionate about environmental science and sustainability? Do you enjoy hands-on lab work and contributing to a cleaner, greener planet? Join our team as a Quality Assurance/ Control Technician (QA/QC Technician) at our Walker Compost & Packaging Facility in Arthur, ON.
Reporting to the Quality Assurance & Control Manager-Environmental, you will be responsible for finished product sampling, performing physical and chemical testing of bulk compost products and raw materials, and supporting R&D through testing of product mixes. The QA/QC technician will also perform quality assurance and control duties, while ensuring that all work is in compliance with applicable environmental regulations and Environmental Compliance Approvals (ECAs). This is a permanent, full time position. The salary range for this role is $50-55K annually.
**What you will be doing**:
- Perform tasks in the areas of sample collection/preparation, resampling, physical and chemical analysis.
- Laboratory maintenance, entering data from lab reports, ordering/purchasing lab and general supplies.
- Support product packaging with quality monitoring and contamination testing.
- Test and record physical and chemical properties such as moisture, pH level, temperatures and porosity of both finished products and raw materials
- Provide insight into and interpretation of results, collecting data where required and generating data for reports.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory agencies like the Ministry of Environment, and Canadian Food Inspection Agency and company policies/procedures.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of Safe Work Procedures.
- Maintain legible and detailed records (manual and electronic).
**Here’s What You Need**:
- A university degree or college diploma in Environmental Science, Biology or related field.- 1-3 years’ experience in a lab, technical, or process manufacturing setting.- Experience in horticultural or greenhouse operations is a bonus- Must be able to communicate effectively and understand technical manuals and scientific terminology applicable to operation.- Proficient in Microsoft Office.- Strong problem solving skills and the ability to work independently and within a team.- A valid G-Class Driver’s License.- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
