**Fibre and Wireless Technician**
The Fibre and Wireless Technician is responsible for the installation and repair of fibre and wireless Customer Premise Equipment (CPE) and service wire at residential and business locations and to address customer issues and concerns regarding pre/post installation.
**Duties & Responsibilities**
- Reporting to the Field Services Manager or his/her designate.
- Installing and repairing underground and aerial fibre service wires to the residential and business locations
- Installing and repairing inside service wire and CPE for fibre services
- Installing and repairing outside wireless equipment, servicing residential and business locations
- Installing and repairing inside service wire and CPE for wireless services
- Assist in installation and repair of wireless sites (rooftops, grain elevators, silos, towers)
- Manage vehicle inventory and tool set
- Assist Managers in reducing departmental costs through efficiencies and improved productivity
- Active involvement in upgrading your technical skills as required by the position
- Participate in on call schedule
- Participate in ongoing health and safety reviews and initiatives
- Any other duties or responsibilities deemed necessary
- Complete underground service drop repairs (L & R)
- ** Requirements**:
- Perform all work in accordance with health and safety standards utilizing and ensuring use of personal protective equipment
- May be required to work evening and weekends
- Work effectively in a team environment
- Must be willing to work in adverse weather conditions
- Climb poles, ladders or utilize man lift to assist in the installation of telecommunication cables and apparatuses
- Maintain required certifications, such as First Aid, Rescue at Heights, Working at Heights, etc
- Valid Driver’s License and clean driver’s abstract
- Must be able to handle all physical aspects of the job, which include lifting/moving heavy equipment (approx. 80 lbs) and climbing ladders/poles at heights up to 40 feet
- Experience with power tools would be an asset
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills coupled with excellent customer service skills
- ** Qualifications**:
- High School Diploma
- Post secondary education in related field preferred
- Working knowledge of networking and network wiring
- Able to use interpersonal skills with diplomacy and tact to relate to a wide range of personalities aiding in building effective relationships
- Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills
- Detail-oriented with demonstrated time management and organizational skills
