The Asphalt Plant Operator is responsible for the efficient and effective operation of the Asphalt Plant, ensuring all safety and environmental regulations, policies and procedures are followed. This position communicates with all levels of personnel within the organization, facilitating the timely production of quality asphalt product.
**Key Responsibilities**
Ensure the safe and efficient operation of the asphalt plant using button controls and a computer controlled blending system to produce quality asphalt product.
Perform maintenance and troubleshooting on equipment and electrical components of plant.
Coordinate with the Quality Control department to ensure high quality production of asphalt products.
Keep track of outgoing trucks and asphalt production numbers and statistics.
Collect paperwork from scale house and compare haul tickets to aggregates totalizer numbers and oil computer.
Complete daily records and plant reports based on quantites of aggregates and AC usuage.
Order materials including asphalt oil, burner fuel and aggregates according to job quantities and demands.
Perform and oversee the setup and take down of portable asphalt plants.
Communicate with personnel on and off site, including Plant personnel, Paving Superintendent and Foreman, etc.
Must ensure a solid understand of and comply with the principles of the company's Code of Ethics.
Must examine situations in light of the principles of the Code of Ethics. Other labour and operation related duties as required.
**Qualifications | Requirements**
Technical understanding of asphalt mix, design, and materials. Knowledge of mechanical components and moving parts.
Class 5 driver's license required.
High School Diploma or G.E.D. preferred.
Training in Confined Space, Aerial Lift and Fall Arrest, preferred.
Minimum 2 years' experience in the operation, repair, and maintenance of asphalt equipment.
Time management skills, and ability to prioritize work.
Must comply with the company's drug and alcohol testing requirements.
**Working Conditions**
Ability to work out-of-town and remote locations may be required. Accommodations and Live Out Allowance (LOA) is applicable in most situations.
Work is performed in an indoor and outdoor setting, which could include sitting, standing or kneeing for extended periods of time, inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt.
Must be physically able to repetitively lift and carry at least 40LBS on regular basis. Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required.
Use of sunscreen, long sleeves, and appropriate headgear is recommended. Must comply with the company's drug and alcohol testing requirements.
