Métis Crossing is Alberta’s first major Métis destination where we share and celebrate the Métis culture with all people With their unique designs that combine both traditional and contemporary Métis craftmanship, The Lodge and the Gathering Centre at Métis Crossing are special blends of comfort, culture, and Métis history. Directly adjacent to the Cultural Gathering Centre, our 40-room boutique Lodge offers scenic views overlooking the majestic North Saskatchewan River, the very route used by our Métis ancestors as they gathered here to trade. The Cultural Gathering Centre is the base for all our cultural and educational programs. The Lodge offers a Bistro for coffee and express breakfast, as well as a Lounge for cocktails and light snacks. Together they are an ideal location for corporate and government retreats as well as family gatherings.

**The Opportunity**

Métis Crossing seeks staff for the position of Dishwasher. The successful applicants will play an integral role in supporting the culinary vision at Métis Crossing including the preparation and serving of indigenous cuisine and supporting special events. Working with the head chef and the ‘back-of-house’ team,

**Key Responsibilities**
- Operate dishwashers to clean pots, pans, utensils, and silverware efficiently and thoroughly.
- Maintain the dishwasher in clean and working condition; report any issues or defective equipment promptly.
- Pre-wash and scrub pots and pans to ensure cleanliness.
- Properly store and organize cleaned pots, pans, and silverware in designated areas.
- Monitor and ensure all cleaning and sanitizing chemicals are used at the correct levels.
- Perform general cleaning duties, including taking out trash, sweeping, mopping, and organizing the dishwashing area.
- Wipe down and sanitize food preparation areas regularly to maintain hygiene.
- Use and wear required equipment, devices, and clothing as per Métis Crossing guidelines and Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) standards.
- Adhere to Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) protocols at all times.
- Perform other “back of house” duties as assigned by the supervisor.

- Experience engaging with diverse audiences from varying cultural backgrounds and ages.
- Flexible and adaptable to changes in schedules and assignments.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to ensure thoroughness in cleaning and organization.
- Able to work independently or collaboratively in a team setting, and take direction effectively.
- Capable of working in a noisy, fast-paced, multitasking environment.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in a demanding area, including standing for the duration of shifts.

**Preferred Qualifications**
- Basic understanding of food service requirements and operations.
- Previous experience as a kitchen helper or server is an asset.
- WHMIS certification and basic First Aid training.
- Knowledge of safe and sanitary food handling procedures.
- Familiarity with Alberta’s history and cultural diversity.
- Knowledge of Alberta Métis culture, past and present.

**Other Requirements**
- Availability to work a flexible schedule, including days, evenings, and weekends.
- Ability to work on-site at Métis Crossing in Smoky Lake.
- Clear Criminal Record Check required before employment.

**Employment Details**:

- Schedule will include weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
