**Campus/Location**: The position is based out of the North Campus. However, we support a hybrid approach which gives us the best of both worlds - a mix of home and in-office workdays.

**Salary**: Admin 06: $95,401 - $134,118

**What you will do**:
Under the general direction of the Associate Director, Energy & Climate Change in the Capital Development & Facilities Management department - the Project Manager, Mechanical, is responsible for delivering Project SWITCH - Humber’s largest decarbonization project to date - a multi-year energy retrofit project valued at $30M.

The scope of Project SWITCH includes conversion of the main campus heating infrastructure from steam to hot water, new central heat pumps and a 4 MWh battery storage system. This project alone will reduce Humber’s greenhouse gas emissions by 33%. Humber hopes the project will act as a national standard for an economically feasible low carbon steam to hot water conversion project for the Canadian market.

After completion of Project SWITCH, the Project Manager, Mechanical will continue to be responsible for the effective delivery of complex, often multi-million dollar and multi-year, retrofit mechanical and electrical infrastructure projects.

These projects will support Humber’s Integrated Energy Master Plan (IEMP) and Climate Action Plan, both are long-term, strategic, multi-phase plans with the aim of making Humber a **global leader** in energy efficiency and climate action

A broad range of retrofit projects is expected, examples include:

- Central plant heating conversions to support decarbonization efforts, including campus scale heat pumps.
- Retrofitting existing campus networks to accommodate new geothermal ground-source heat pumps
- Extending the heating and cooling networks to connect to buildings not currently supplied by the central utilities plant.
- Replacing/Retrofitting AHUs and RTUs, installing Energy Recovery Ventilators and VRF systems
- Decommissioning of the existing campus steam heating plants and network, constructing new hot water pipe networks and installing new central plant equipment.
- Converting CV Systems to VAV
- LED Lighting & controls retrofits, solar photovoltaic installations
- Implementing demand reduction strategies to leverage lower Global Adjustment costs.
- Managing engineering feasibility studies for long-term strategic planning of heating and cooling assets
- Replacing end of life Central Plant equipment (boilers, chillers) with more efficient systems (e.g. electric boilers, heat pumps, heat recovery chillers).
- Installation of new building level hot water to hot water heat exchangers
- Optimizing the operation of existing heating, cooling and ventilation systems. Improved sequences of operation, minimizing supply and return temperatures to support low carbon heating sources.
- Building level modifications, which could include: building side piping modifications, upgrading AHU coils, local humidification, domestic hot water (DHW) connections.
- Installing low carbon energy sources to serve heating and cooling systems.
- Replacing end of life electrical infrastructure, retrofits to enhance electrical distribution capacity

The incumbent will manage all aspects of delivering these project from Request for Proposal (RFP) development, design, tendering, construction, commissioning, deficiency completion, warranty reviews and post-construction operation optimization.

**What you bring to the role**:
**Education**:

- A certified Project Management Professional (PMP) designation an asset

**Experience/Skills**:

- Experience with project management and construction projects with a mechanical focus;
- Experience delivering large scale construction projects, in traditional, construction management and/or design-build project delivery environment;
- Experience in diverse mechanical building services projects, including air-based and hydronic systems, boilers, chillers, rooftop, HVAC, controls, piping;
- Design and construction site experience;
- Experience with retrofits in existing, occupied buildings;
- Experience with geo-exchange, heat pumps, and/or other alternate energy technologies;
- Experience with designing or constructing central utility plants and/or central plant equipment;
- Experience in district cooling or heating network design or construction;
- Experience with commissioning;
- Knowledge of financial, contractual and other administrative procedures;
- Knowledge of safety guidelines and project specific safety requirements;
- Strong written and verbal communication skills;
- Well organized, self-directed work habits with a demonstrated ability to prioritize and schedule tasks managing multiple projects simultaneously in a dynamic environment;
