Reporting to the Director, Community and Stakeholder Engagement, the Manager, Community and Tenant Affairs is responsible for the development and implementation of communication and engagement strategies and initiatives that mitigate issues, increases awareness, and build relationships to support BC Housing in developing, protecting and maintaining affordable and supportive housing in British Columbia. She/He/They provide strategic advice and oversight to the development and implementation of communications and engagement initiatives relating to major new development, redevelopment and/or renovation projects, as well as new or enhanced BC Housing programs or services. She/He/They are also responsible for creating and implementing tenant communications strategies to support change management initiatives. The incumbent provides leadership to a team of staff and, as a member of the Communications and Public Affairs leadership team, provides strategic advice on a range of issues impacting business and operating strategies. The Manager oversees project teams and contractors, and maintains strong working relationships with local governments, non-profit partners and community stakeholders.
**CANDIDATE PROFILE**
**EDUCATION & **EXPERIENCE**:
- Bachelor’s degree in communications public administration, public relations or other relevant discipline.
- Considerable experience in a communications and public affairs environment, with specific experience in media relations, community relations, community engagement, issues management and public affairs.
- Considerable experience working with diverse communities and audiences, including with communities that have experienced marginalization.
- Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience acceptable to the Employer.
**KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES**:
- Considerable knowledge of the philosophies, processes, practices and techniques of community outreach and public engagement, communications planning and program implementation, issues management and media relations.
- Considerable knowledge of the residential construction sector and ability to learn the Commission's organization, programs and services and of related legislation and policies. Strong analytical, problem solving, decision-making, project management and organizational skills.
