- Casual mathematics instructors are hired by the Department of Arts & Sciences to teach courses in times of high demand. As a casual mathematics instructor, you will be assigned full responsibilities for courses assigned to you (i.e. preparing lessons, evaluating student progress, communicating with students and programs, etc.) over the course of the semester(s).

Please Note: Casual mathematics instruction in the Department of Arts & Sciences is **not** substitute teaching.

- 1. Provide instruction in mathematics and statistics classes to post-secondary students in a wide variety of programs.
2. Practice good interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
3. Plan and deliver content and learning activities that reflect the values, beliefs, needs, and contributions of a culturally diverse community.
4. Utilize LMS for in person, online, and blended course delivery.
5. Manage the classroom/lab/activities to ensure an optimum learning environment using an outcomes-based approach.
6. Respond to and accommodate the special learning needs of students, including equity groups and diverse learners.
7. Use appropriate evaluation methods, record student progress, and provide feedback.
8. Make necessary curriculum adjustments to course content.
9. Follow academic regulations and policies adopted by Saskatchewan Polytechnic.
10. Work cooperatively with program heads and colleagues in an interdependent “team” environment.
11. Pursue professional development opportunities to keep current with industry and educational requirements.
12. Attend staff, program, and school meetings.

**Required Qualifications, Skills and Abilities (QSA)**
- A four year Bachelor of Science degree, or equivalent, with sufficient classes in pure and/or applied mathematics or statistics to constitute a major (University of Saskatchewan/University of Regina standards).

Two years’ recent (2 years experience in the last 5 years) and relevant business/industry work experience or post-secondary work experience
