**THE OPPORTUNITY**

We are seeking a self-motivated and detail-oriented **Sanitation Operator** to work with our manufacturing plant team at Organic Traditions. The **Sanitation Operator** will be responsible for carrying out specific sanitation tasks in the manufacturing plant and offices of the facility in addition to supporting the manufacturing plant team on an ad-hoc basis. This role will conduct all operation of the CIP (clean-in-place) system to clean and sanitize equipment; assemble and disassemble equipment for proper manual cleaning/sanitizing per manufacturer’s instructions and maintain sanitary conditions throughout the front office. The **Sanitation Operator** will be responsible for the safe and efficient production of products according to established procedures, following all quality and safety protocols and workplace policies.

This role will report into the **Plant Manager.**

**ABOUT THE ROLE**
- Ensure the manufacturing facility is always food safety ready by cleaning, scrubbing, and sanitizing all the equipment, utensils, tanks, sinks, drains, etc. Perform housekeeping to include clean floors, walls, ceiling, air vents, lights, baseboards, handrails, trash cans, etc.
- Ensure office environment is always clean by conducting regular cleanings including but not limited to: emptying waste bins and disposing of trash properly in designated areas; regularly vacuum and mop floors throughout the facility including all hallways, meeting rooms, and lunchroom to remove dirt, debris and spills; wipe down and dust surfaces such as tables and countertops, to prevent the accumulation of dust and grime; thoroughly clean and sanitize restroom facilities, including toilets, sinks, mirrors, and floors; and disinfect high-touch areas such as doorknobs, light switches, and equipment handles to prevent the spread of germs.
- Responsible for handling and preparing cleaning chemicals, preparing sanitizers, preparing chemical concentrations, handling, and storing the chemicals, and managing chemical accidents.
- Understand the SOP (Standard Operating Procedures) and Inspection Regulations.
- Complete record keeping items such as, but not limited to, identifying cleaning cycles on charts, measuring cleaning supplies and sanitizing by chemical strengths.
- Assist plant staff with cleaning up major projects as needed.
- Take direction from the Plant Manager and/or QA team to resolve sanitation-related issues.
- Analyze and resolve sanitation problems and assist workers in solving sanitation work problems.
- Responsible for adhering to food safety and quality system requirements by committing to meet all pertinent regulatory, customer and SQF requirements and report any deficiencies.
- The employee will be required to use all personal protective equipment provided by the company in compliance with OSHA regulations.
- Learn and adhere to production facility, sanitation, OSHA, safety and security policies, procedures, and regulations of new technologies.
- Held accountable for food safety and regulatory responsibilities related to this position by following Food Safety and Quality procedures.
- Support the production team as needed and requested, to ensure production needs are met at all times.

**WHO YOU ARE**
- High School Diploma, GED or Skilled trade training preferred or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Minimum 1 year sanitation experience in the food industry/similar manufacturing environment.
- Hands-on attitude to execute sanitation procedures daily.
- Ability to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible manner.
- Ability to lift heavy objects up to 25 kgs.
- Effective verbal and listening communications skills; planning, organizational and time management skills.
- Mechanically inclined with the ability to work with equipment control panels.
- Knowledge and experience with the sanitation process, cleaning chemistry, chemical storage, handling and dispensing systems and sanitary design principles.
- Knowledge of industry related quality systems and inspection programs, cleaning systems (CIP, COP) and chemicals and its analysis. Ability to work with strong chemicals in a safe manner.
- Knowledge of HACCP, GMP, WHMIS, Food Safety, Health and Safety Regulations.

**Salary**: $16.55-$33.55 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
