**Job Summary**:
The Mechanical Estimator is responsible for providing accurate and competitive cost estimates for a wide range of mechanical projects to our clients in a timely manner. You will be working closely with project managers, Site Supers/Foremen, and clients to deliver cost-effective solutions that meet project specifications and timelines.
- **Without restricting the generality of the above-stated basic functions, this position shall perform such duties and responsibilities as may be assigned including but not restricted to the following**:_

**Responsibilities**:

- Review proposal specifications and drawings, and attend pre-bid meetings to determine scope of work and strategy
- Reviewing project site prior to price preparation
- Responsible for accuracy of bid cost to actual cost of work performed
- Analyzes documents, drawings, specifications, proposals, and addendums in preparation for pricing
- Reviewing tender documents to confirm project requirements, scope of work, and other details
- Issue RFI’s for any bid documents discrepancies & unclear information
- Prepare scope of work and send RFQ’s and communicating with subcontractors and suppliers throughout the tender period
- Complete accurate mechanical/structural takeoffs and cost estimates for materials, labor, and equipment
- Review design drawings, identifying errors and solutions to mitigate risk
- Evaluate quotations and write subcontract agreements
- Analyzing and comparing subcontractor and supplier quotations
- Preparation of quotation letters and proposals
- Procure equipment and materials on time and under budget
- Preparing takeoffs, sourcing materials and subcontractors, and bid completion
- Manage the distribution of appropriate documentation upon award of project
- Manage the project transition process from the point that a bid is awarded until it is comfortably managed by the project management team
- Following-up at the end of projects to close any loops in the estimating process to include invoicing and cost tracking and other duties as assigned

**Required Skills/Experience**:

- Post-Secondary education preferably in Mechanical Engineering and/or estimating
- Min of 5 years’ experience within a general contracting environment
- Knowledgeable with mechanical, civil, and structural drawings
- Sound knowledge of the BC Building Code, Master Municipal Construction Documents (MMCD) and Canadian Construction Association Standards
- Proven competency in the operation of key office software and productivity tools such as: MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and Project)
- Design-Build experience is an asset
- Knowledge of B2W Estimating Software is an asset
- Excellent command of the English language both written and verbal
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Positive attitude and a desire for continuous improvement for self and organization
- Must be accurate with a high attention to details
- Ability to work independently and cohesively
- Valid Driver’s License (some travel within BC may be required and our Maple Ridge office is not accessible via public transit

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: $90,000.00-$140,000.00 per year
