**Mental Health Worker/Counsellor**
You will be working with adults who have a Dual Diagnosis and provide support to Inuit clients. You will be integral in the day-to-day lives of our clients and developing their life skills while providing quality care. Help foster lifelong friendships and community connections. Must have experience /education supporting individuals with complex trauma. Must speak English as well as be fluent in the North Baffin dialect of Inuktitut.
**Job Duties & Responsibilities**
- Support with the mental health needs of Inuit clients.
- Facilitate active participation in cultural and community events for individuals with complex trauma.
- Provide support and language interpretation services during crisis management.
- Support in managing challenging behaviours. The ability to use sound judgement in crisis situations.
- Support and spend time developing and implementing activities and events with clients.
**Experience**:
- Mental Health: 1 year (preferred)
- Behavioural Support/following Behaviour Protocols: 1 year (preferred)
**Qualifications**
- Specialty in working with Mental Health
- Standard First Aid & CPR Level C
- Experience with Developmental Disabilities
- Clear Vulnerable Sector Police Check
- Access to a reliable vehicle as some locations are not accessible by bus.
**Job Position: Occassional Part-time Rotations, Flex hours**
- Under 20 hours a week
- Flexible days of the week and Hours
**Salary information**
- based on education and experience
- Shift premiums for weekend, signing bonus and $3/hour Government Wage Enhancement available on top of base rate
Previous experience is required, but we are open to individuals with previous transferable skills such as:
- Support Worker, Personal Support Worker, Caregiver, Social Work, Community Support Worker, PSW, Developmental Services Worker, Child and Youth Worker, Residential Support Worker, DSW, Group Home experience
