**Township Manager**:
Nipigon is currently seeking a highly motivated and qualified individual to fill the position of **Township Manager**.
- Provide administrative leadership and oversee the effective and efficient delivery of municipal services.
- Direct the overall planning, direction, administration, and control of all municipal departments and operations in accordance with the objectives, policies, and plans approved by Council and in compliance with legislation.
- Perform the statutory duties of Municipal Clerk and Treasurer.

**Organizational Status**
The Township Manager oversees the Administration Department and all other municipal departments.

**Essential Duties and Responsibilities**
**Programs & Services**
- Provide administrative leadership and coordinate the effective and efficient delivery of municipal services.
- Coordinate the development and implementation of short
- and long-term operative plans and strategies.
- Ensure effective and efficient management systems and practices are in place across the organization.
- Direct the development, implementation, and administration of objectives, policies, and programs.
- Stay up to date on municipal operations through frequent meetings with senior staff.
- Research, analyze, and/or obtain advice from solicitors, consultants, and government ministries.
- Prepare and present recommendations to Council concerning administrative and operational issues.
- Ensure agendas and minutes are prepared and distributed accurately and on time.
- Review and approve staff reports, draft motions, by-laws, and policies prior to inclusion in agendas.
- Manage correspondence to and from Council, and communicate decisions accordingly.
- Ensure records, by-laws, and municipal documentation are properly kept and retrievable.
- Report to Council on the effectiveness of policies and programs, recommending improvements.
- Establish liaisons and relationships with neighbouring municipalities, First Nations, boards, and committees.
- Provide administrative advice and ensure Council is informed of all critical issues.
- Perform statutory duties including Election Returning Officer, Commissioner of Oaths, Division Registrar, and Issuer of Marriage Licenses.
- Ensure compliance with legislation such as the Municipal Act, MFIPPA, WSIA, and OHSA.

**Human Resources**
- Oversee and direct senior management and administration staff.
- Develop, implement, and manage effective human resource systems, policies, and procedures.
- Appoint, assess, discipline, and recommend termination of staff per Council policies.
- Participate in CUPE negotiations, resolve grievances, and foster positive workplace relations.

**Financial Resources**
- Oversee the annual operating and capital budget.
- Direct senior staff to optimize revenues and maximize efficient use of resources.
- Approve expenditures within authorized spending limits and procurement policies.

**Material Resources**
- Ensure the safety, maintenance, and management of all municipal buildings and equipment.
- Safeguard records, computer systems, and data.

**Required Education & Work Experience**
- Post-secondary degree or diploma (public administration, business, accounting, or related field an asset).
- Minimum five years of direct management experience in a municipal or related setting.
- AMCTO, CPA, CMO, or related designation preferred; commitment to professional development required.
- Comprehensive knowledge of management practices, the Municipal Act, Planning Act, and related legislation.
- Experience in business management, planning, budgeting, finance, and HR.
- Strong understanding of OHSA, MFIPPA, and other relevant legislation.

**Skills and Abilities**
- Strong leadership and organizational skills with ability to manage change and motivate staff.
- Excellent networking and interpersonal skills to interact with Council, staff, and the public.
- Strong emotional intelligence including self-control, awareness, and adaptability.
- Advanced problem-solving, decision-making, negotiation, and conflict management skills.
- Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.
- Strong time management and prioritization abilities.
- Knowledge of municipal finance and treasury duties.
- Strong computer skills with the ability to learn new systems quickly.

**Work Demands & Environment**
- Office-based with frequent interruptions and multiple deadlines.
- High-pressure environment balancing Council, staff, and public needs.
- Required to attend all Council meetings (some outside regular hours).
- Occasional travel for municipal business, workshops, and conferences.
