We are seeking a **Controller** at The Brick, who will work directly with the Vice President of Finance at our Corporate Office in Edmonton, Alberta.
The Controller is a key finance business partner that engages with stakeholders across our entire organization and our senior leadership team to drive company performance.

**Responsibilities**:
**Financial and operational analysis**
- Serve as a key finance business partner, engaging with stakeholders across the organization, including members of the senior leadership team, to drive performance
- Prepare monthly variance analysis, including the analysis of sales, profitability and KPI performance versus plan and the prior year
- Assist in the development of operating budgets, financial forecasts, performance dashboards and KPIs for the Brick Division
- Lead the monthly balance sheet review process, ensuring all required reconciliations are prepared on a timely basis
- Take ownership of and update key operational models monthly including same store sales, store level P&Ls, and payroll models, along with overall expense management
- Evaluate and monitor if strategies are achieving their intended impact and partner to implement actions plans that improve performance
**Accounting and financial reporting**
- Oversee multiple functions of corporate accounting including the review and approval of journal entries related to various parts of the business such as store operations, merchandising, advertising and franchise
- Manage overall payroll accounting, accounts payables, capital assets, and employee expense claims
**Other accountabilities**
- Lead, develop and coach a team of finance and accounting professionals to drive performance and outcomes
- Identify and address opportunities to streamline financial processes using the company’s Oracle ERP system and MMHF
- Work with external auditors for interim reviews and year end audits
- Provide support for corporate accounting policy creation
Qualifications:
- CPA designation required
- 10+ years of experience
- Strong sense of urgency and effective organization and planning skills
- People management and development expertise
- Strong negotiating skills and a talent for adjusting messaging to varied vendors and stakeholders
- Prior experience managing large and diverse teams
- Ability to prioritize, manage deadlines, make decisions and problem solve
- Strong planning, analytical, and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively on multiple projects simultaneously, with strong attention to detail
