**Job Summary**

Sexual Violence Prevention and Response Services (SVPRS) is the central point of contact for Queen’s community members who have concerns related to sexual violence. SVPRS leads in the development and implementation of comprehensive survivor-centered response protocols for student disclosures of sexual misconduct, sexual violence and intimate partner violence. SVPRS also develops and delivers educational, and awareness programming aimed at created a consent culture on campus.

Reporting to the Manager, Sexual Violence Prevention and Response (Manager), the Case Manager and Student Advisor (Case Manager) is a central support for students who have experienced, or been impacted by, gender-based violence including sexual violence and intimate partner violence. The Case Manager provides confidential advisory services. The Case Manager utilizes an intersectional, trauma-informed, person-centered approach to triage services and stabilize those seeking support (including short term coping and management strategies); make referrals to supports both on and off campus; offer safety planning; explore considerations/accommodation needs; discuss options that are available under university policy and support navigating University procedures. The Case Manager may also provide consultative support to campus community members who have received a disclosure, informing them of best practices for responding and their duties under university policy.

The position is exposed to stress and pressure associated with front-facing support positions. It involves moderate psychological risk resulting from difficult and unavoidable exposure to disagreeable and uncomfortable environmental and psychological conditions. There are often varying volumes of demand for service at different times of the year.

This position is expected to be self-directed in executing their responsibilities. The role has a mix of defined, specialized, routine and non-routine tasks and requires sound judgement, tact, and discretion in juggling and executing these responsibilities. This position will make recommendations to the Manager regarding the execution of their responsibilities.

This position requires the incumbent to be present on campus during the work week, though some hybrid work may be possible. Some evening and weekend hours may be required at times e.g., team support for special events.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Responds, as first point of contact, to disclosures of sexual violence to provide emotional and practical support and triage most immediate needs. Applies trauma-informed practices to survivor support, emphasizing a survivor-centered response. Consults with the Manager about case assignment for clients who require ongoing support.
- Participates in case management and provides regular case updates; maintains records in case management system.
- Demonstrates sensitivity to the unique circumstances of survivors and maintains a high level of confidentiality in highly sensitive, complex situations.
- Demonstrates familiarity with relevant institutional policies and procedures (e.g., Sexual Misconduct and Sexual Violence Policy, Harassment and Discrimination Policy, Policy on Extenuating Circumstances) and explains reporting options under the Sexual Misconduct and Sexual Violence Policy.
- Seeks involvement of the Manager in the management of complex cases, including those that involve potential risk and institutional complaints procedures. In the Manager’s absence, provide guidance, navigational assistance, and support to those who pursue internal complaint processes and advocates for survivor interests.
- Develops familiarity and positive working relationships with campus and community partners who provide services to student survivors.

- Provides follow-up to ensure relevant services have been effectively engaged/given consideration following disclosure. Liaise with campus partners to ensure holistic response.
- Consult, advise, and support university community members in their response to disclosures. Work with the Manager and the SVPR Community Outreach and Student Support Worker to support the development of respectful, supportive, survivor-centered responses to disclosures that are both policy and legally compliant.
