**We are seeking Academic Tutors to work with our neurodiverse youth clients**
LDAPR is seeking enthusiastic, talented educators, who love children and teaching to provide academic support to neurodiverse children and youth You are passionate about working one-on-one with students in the in either the primary, junior or intermediate grades at the elementary level or have experience with tutoring Math and English at the secondary level. You are also well versed in working with youth with learning differences. You will be delivering tutoring services that are in line with the Ontario curriculum, implementing individualized learning strategies, and providing modifications and accommodations. LDAPR provides a reliable, predictable and inclusive environment where our tutors understand the importance of therapeutic rapport and consistency in the success of our students.
**Position Responsibilities**
- Deliver engaging, supportive one-on-one tutoring (in-person primarily with occasional virtual sessions available), working with children kindergarten to grade 8 with learning differences/disabilities - current tutoring frameworks are Jump Math and Reading Rocks
- Delivering engaging, supportive one-on-one tutoring to secondary students in English and/or math with youth with learning differences
- With the Program Coordinator, review the learning needs and strategies for each student.
- Capably address challenging behaviour in youth students with learning differences/disabilities
- Engage and support other tutors delivering the programs
- Engage individual students during sessions in an engaging, caring manner
- Communicate when required with families/caregivers of youth clients in a respectful, collaborative manner
- Assess the progress of individual tutoring students and the program overall
**Skills and experience**
- B. Ed. or equivalent education and experience, with elementary Ontario curriculum knowledge
- Fluency in written and spoken English is required for this position
- Experience working with elementary aged youth with learning differences required
- Experiences with Math and/or English at the secondary level
- One-on-one tutoring experience required
- Strong knowledge of teaching strategies for reading, spelling, and math for children with learning differences
- Experience dealing with challenging behaviour in students with learning differences/disabilities
- Experience assessing student learning performance and challenges
- Experience with Reading Rocks and Jump Math programs a big asset
- Love of working with children, especially those who think differently, a necessity
- Creativity, independent worker with team spirit
- Standard computer/tech skills
- Nonprofit experience is considered an asset
- Willingness to work flexible hours outside of usual business hours, as tutoring will be taking place during after school hours or potentially on weekends
**Hours**:This is a part-time position. Tutors must be available for a minimum of 4/hours per week between the hours of 4:00pm - 8:00pm.
**Pay Scale**: This position pays **$23-$27/ hour**, dependent upon experience
**Location**: This position will be delivered in-person from both LDAPR's office’ in Brampton and Mississauga (Major Intersections: Chinguacousy Rd/Williams PKWY in Brampton and Eglington/Fairwind Dr. in Mississauga) with some limited opportunity for virtual work when necessary.
