**The Opportunity**:
JJM Construction is looking for a **Heavy Equipment Operator** to join the team various projects in the lower mainland, BC.

**Responsibilities**:
The primary goal of this position is to achieve excellence in all facets of the essential functions, while providing the highest quality construction services and products safely, effectively and efficiently to ensure JJM Construction’s principle of “Building to Last” endures for future generations.
- Responsible for operating heavy equipment at construction sites in a safe and effective manner in order to minimize the risk of injury, property damage or loss of life.
- Clean, maintain and secure all equipment as directed by JJM policies and procedures.
- Perform pre-shift inspections, change attachments, lubricate and refill equipment while performing other site duties as assigned.
- Heavy equipment operated at JJM include, but are not limited to, compactors, dozers, excavators, front-end loaders, graders and rock trucks.
- Perform other site duties or functions, consistent with status or vocational ability as may be required from time to time.
- Ensure a safe work environment for our people, clients, subcontractors, and the public.
- Represent JJM to the public in a manner that is consistent with corporate values and goals.
- Lead by example.

**Operational Performance and Best Practices**:

- Operate all pieces of heavy equipment to load, transport, move, spread and lay materials at a construction site, using all required attachments.
- Operate all heavy equipment according to owner and manufacturer specifications.
- Perform pre-operational inspection/ preventative maintenance on equipment according to owner and manufacturer specifications.
- Report defects or needed repairs immediately to supervisor.
- Record all details of inspections, maintenance and other work done on the heavy equipment while in the field in the machine’s log book.
- Clean, lubricate and fuel all equipment, as scheduled and required.
- Ensure heavy equipment is safety and securely stored.
- Maintain inventory of equipment.
- Communicate effectively with crew via hand signals and radio communications.
- Ensure awareness of all site conditions that could affect heavy equipment operation (i.e. overhead power lines, workers, mobile equipment, pedestrians, etc.).
- Wear, and participate in the ongoing training of, the required PPE for the position.

**Qualifications**:
JJM Construction Ltd. is committed to providing a safe and healthy workplace with safety as a primary consideration in all we do.
- Minimum of five (5) years’ operating experience for each piece of heavy equipment required for the project (compactors, dozers, back-hoes, excavators, front-end loaders, wheel loaders and graders).
- Demonstrated knowledge in civil construction/ underground utility construction.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driver’s abstract (per company insurance requirements).
- CSTS-09 certificate (or CSTS-2020 or SiteReadyBC certificates as equivalent).
- Ground Disturbance II - BC & WHIMIS-2015 certificate (valid within 3-years).

**Health and Safety**:

- Strictly adhere to the JJM Construction OHS Manual.
- Follow JJM Construction safe work practices and safe job procedures.
- Follow the BC Occupational Health and Safety Regulations, specifically, Part 16.
- Ensure a safe work environment for our people, clients, subcontractors, and the public.
