Quality Lab Technician

Position Details:_

The Quality Lab Technician will provide laboratory support to the refining operations by interpreting analytical results, inspecting, and analyzing raw materials, in-process samples, prepare daily analytical reports. Flexibility to work off shifts and weekends is required.
- A Day in the Life_:_

Assure that all products produced, consistently meet or exceed company standards and comply with Provincial and Federal regulations.
- What You’ll Be Doing:_
- Ensures compliance with Bunge safety policies by production staff and contractors at all times by putting safety before profit and production.
- Collecting, preparing, and shipping any requested samples e.g. Weekly, monthly, and quarterly monitoring for 3 MCPD, GE and
- Sampling, analyzing, and recording the results during the whole process including refining, bleaching, and deodorizing.
- Recording all the analyses results in the LIMS system
- Helping in fixing the contaminated oil (mixed oil) by blending the requested lab blends, analyzing, and reporting the results.
- Trailers /containers inspection prior to loading finish product. Sampling and sealing Trailers /containers once done loading. Measuring and recording the Temperature for all loaded trucks before shipping it to the customer
- Moving the chemical waste from the lab to the outside chemical waste storage cage and bring new empty chemical waste drum to the lab. Shipping the disposed chemical waste
- Issuing and filling all the customer paperwork (e.g. CoA, tank wash ticket, kosher...etc.)
- Checking and confirming each filter (CCP) to make sure it's not damaged and record its data.
- Communicate and coordinate with both Bunge Loder’s Croklaan and Upfield operators regarding railcars offloading.
- Communicate and coordinate with the drivers regarding scheduling and spotting trucks and containers especially during
- Lab Calibration / validation and basic preventive maintenance
- Receiving and stocking all the received lab supplies and chemical inside the lab and inside and outside storage cages
- Requirement to maintain all aspects of the quality and food/feed safety system such as QMS, HACCP, GMP and other BNA systems.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Skill/Experience Requirements:_
- Technical degree in Science and Chemistry required.
- Minimum 3 years laboratory experience in related industry may be substituted for educational degree.
- Chemical Handling experience
- Knowledge in handling chemicals, titration chemistry, NMR, FT-NIR, GC and basic mathematics required.
- General knowledge in laboratory instrumentations.
- Computer literacy in Windows based programs
- Must be able to lift boxes of chemicals which may weigh up to 20kgs and handle, transport and connect various gas cylinders for the operation of lab equipment.
