Cleaner (Part-time)

**About Us**:
Bryony House is dedicated to providing a safe haven and support for individuals and families affected by intimate partner violence (IPV). Our facility serves as a shelter, offering crucial resources and compassionate assistance to those in need.

**Role Overview**:
As a Cleaner at Bryony House, you will play a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness and safety of our facility. Reporting to the Operations Supervisor, you will be responsible for ensuring a hygienic environment conducive to the well-being of our residents and staff.

**Key Responsibilities**:
**Daily Tasks**:

- Conduct general cleaning duties including sweeping, mopping, dusting, and sanitizing of all areas.
- Ensure high-touch surfaces are regularly cleaned and disinfected.
- Prioritize cleanliness of kitchen and bathroom areas.
- Prepare rooms for incoming residents by thoroughly cleaning and sanitizing.
- Regularly liaise with the Operations Supervisor regarding priority tasks and special projects.

**Weekly Tasks**:

- Manage stock levels and maintain supply rooms and housekeeping cart.
- Perform deep cleaning tasks such as kitchen sanitation.
- Conduct laundry duties, including cleaning and disinfecting bedding and towels.
- Dispose of refuse in accordance with established procedures.
- Address smudges on windows and doors.

**Monthly Tasks**:

- Report any maintenance deficiencies or repair needs to Operations Supervisor.
- Collaborate on risk reduction strategies related to cleaning supplies and maintenance.

**Other Expectations**:

- Foster a respectful and professional relationship with staff and clients.
- Maintain professional boundaries with residents, redirecting client issues to appropriate staff members.
- Adhere to health and safety regulations at all times.
- Demonstrate independence, self-direction, reliability, and punctuality.
- Any other duties assigned.

**Qualifications and Skills**:

- Previous experience in commercial janitorial or commercial housekeeping roles preferred.
- Laundry experience preferred.
- Knowledge of safe cleaning practices and handling hazardous chemicals.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Ability to learn and work in fast paced environment.
- Ability to interact with a diverse community of clients including children.

**Physical Requirement**
- Move at a speed required to respond to work situations (e.g., run, walk, jog)
- Stand, sit, or walk for an extended period of time or for an entire work shift. Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 50 lbs without assistance and objects weighing in excess of 75 lbs with assistance
- Move over sloping, uneven, or slippery surfaces as well as up and down stairs and/or service ramps
- Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.
- Perform other reasonable job duties as requested by Supervisors.

**A criminal records check and vulnerable sector check taken within the last six months must be provided upon hiring.**

Pay: From $22.00 per hour

Expected hours: 24 - 40 per week
