**Overview**

Capital Projects Construction is a small and fast growing company based in Cambridge Ontario, providing quality construction services throughout Southern and Western Ontario. We are seeking a CONSTRUCTION BOOKEEPER to oversee end to end financial operations, including managing accounts payable and receivable, payroll processing, and project cost tracking, utilizing QuickBooks, Excel, buildertrend, or other construction software. This role ensures accurate financial reporting, budget alignment, and compliance while providing actionable insights to optimize project profitability and support strategic decision-making.

**Responsibilities**
- **Accounts Receivable and Payable**:

- Generate and send invoices to clients based on project progress or milestones.
- Monitor collections and follow up on overdue payments.
- Prepare AR aging reports and highlight outstanding balances for action.
- Collaborate with project managers to address client billing concerns.

**Payroll**:

- Oversee and process payroll for in-house staff and contractors utilizing QUIKBOOKS.
- Ensure compliance with labor laws, tax regulations, and benefit deductions.
- Maintain detailed payroll records for audits and reporting.
- Address payroll queries and resolve discrepancies.

**Project Tracking and Accounting**:

- Monitor project budgets, costs, and financial performance.
- Collaborate with project managers to ensure financial controls and accuracy in project-related transactions.
- Track change orders, retention payments, and project billing schedules.
- Provide regular financial reports for each project, including forecasts and variances.
- Ensure compliance with contract terms related to financials.

**General Accounting and Reporting**:

- Prepare required CRA reports and other required reports
- Conduct bank reconciliations and manage cash flow.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal tax regulations.
- Support external audits and prepare necessary documentation.
- Develop and enforce internal financial policies and procedures.

**Strategic Contributions**:

- Provide financial insights to aid in decision-making.
- Identify opportunities to improve profitability and reduce costs.
- Assist with financial planning and forecasting.
- Maintain systems for accurate tracking of construction costs and overheads.
- Ensure the accuracy of financial records and funds dispersment
- Manage vendor relationships and negotiate payment terms.
- Reconcile accounts and resolve discrepancies with suppliers.
- Maintain organized records of all AP transactions.
- Assist in budgeting processes by preparing budget reports and forecasts.
- Manage accounts receivable and accounts payable functions, ensuring timely processing of invoices and payments.
- Conduct account analysis to identify discrepancies and recommend corrective actions.
- Utilize accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks, or Sage for daily financial transactions and reporting.
- Collaborate with team members to streamline financial processes and improve efficiency.
- Prepare regular financial reports for management review.
- Support audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations as required.

**Qualifications**
- Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Finance, Accounting, or a related field is preferred.
- CPB, ACAF, or CPA designation preferred
- Proven experience in finance or accounting roles with a focus on account reconciliation and budgeting. (at least 3-5 years preferred)
- Proficiency in accounting software including Excel, QuickBooks, etc is highly desirable.
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail for accurate account analysis.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members and stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Pay: $55,000.00-$65,000.00 per year
