Rice Group is looking for a working supervisor to predominately oversee a soil recycling operation, in our Mt Albert yard. These operations include overseeing many types of late-model excavation equipment, including screening plants and shredders.

This role’s primary objective is to ensure that all operational activities relating to soil production work is performed in a safe, cost effective and productive manner. This role is responsible for scheduling, directing, supervising and motivating a team, consisting of 3 or 4 members.

This role includes some administrative work, ensuring that maintenance inspection checklists are performed by all team members, logged, and reported on daily basis to minimize equipment downtime. Periodic communication with mechanical staff will be required.

It is extremely important that this role demonstrates leadership and behaviours consistent with health & safety policies through front-line engagement. Daily toolbox talks with the team will be required to ensure that the highest level of production is being achieved, while operating in the safest manner possible.

This is a full-time, 12-month per year position. Some Saturday work is required during high production season.

Based on scheduling and availability of work, this role may be assigned to other, local, Rice Group construction yards or sites.

SKILLS REQUIRED
- Require a good safety record and the highest degree of dependability.
- 5 years’ experience in construction
- Minimum 5 years’ experience with operating heavy equipment (Screening Plants, Excavators, Loaders)
- High school education or equivalent
- Able to work long days, flexible work hours & weekends
- Valid “G” driver’s license with clean driver’s abstract
- Must be able to perform the physical requirements of the role (heavy lifting, bending, climbing, working at heights)
- Strong managerial skills in positive engagement, change management and situational leadership
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Exhibits strong teamwork, verbal, and written skills
- Ability to work safely in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work both independently with little supervision, and as part of a team
- Demonstrates superior time management skills
- Must speak fluent English
