WaveStar Networks is seeking network technicians for inside plant to join our professional team who provide services to datacenter/telecom/industrial users, perform installation, turn up, testing and live cutover (routers/switches/storage/ telecommunication transport equipment) and connectivity in Hamilton and surrounding area.

**Responsibilities**:

- Perform installation, testing, night cutover, create Asbuilt and maintenance of various types of Datacenter / Central-Office / Cable-Headend telecommunications equipment.
- Structured cabling including cutting, running, tying and crimping ethernet, switchboard, coaxial, fiber and power cabling.
- Install/Move/Add/Remove network servers, carrier grade switches, routers, storage and transport gear.
- Planning, installation, test and commissioning and removal of BDFB’s (Battery Distribution Feeder Bay), ironwork, DC cabling, DC fuse panel, AC & DC circuit-breaker, liquid cell batteries and power rectifiers.
- Basic commissioning of new Ciena and Fujitsu equipment and testing of new circuits for transport networks, Fiber Channel, RFC and BERT.
- Perform live cutovers to new or existing equipment, in maintenance windows (12am-6am).

**Qualifications**:

- 2 or more years’ experience in the field is highly beneficial.
- A good mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of the use of simple hand tools, power tools and complicated specialty tools such as fiber splicers, EXFO and Viavi test gear.
- General knowledge of equipment in common use in Datacenter/Telecom/Cable and remote sites, including installation and basic testing.
- Knowledge of ancillary equipment used in telecom installations, including but not limited to cables, connectors, steel work and other consumables that are used on a daily basis.
- Flexible and adaptable. Demonstrate the capability to be able to multi-task and accommodate a variety of assignments at various locations on a day-to-day basis.
- Patience and attention of fine details are key for quality installations and troubleshooting.
- Able and willing to travel as required for varying periods of time, occasionally with short (2-3 days) notice.
- Able to interpret Telecommunication Blueprints, Schematics and Specs and able to install equipment to specification.
- Able to interact with customer on-site personnel on job specific activities.
