Grinding Worker

**Job Overview**
This position is responsible for supporting and operating grinding machines in order to grind external or internal cylindrical or tapered surfaces of metal parts. This individual takes appropriate actions to ensure that completed work meets and/or exceeds all quality and safety requirements. This individual will perform these tasks and responsibility with supervision and will demonstrate a high level of capability.

**WAGE: $18.52/hr**

**SHIFT DETAILS**:Monday - Friday, 6am-2:30pm

**Responsibilities**
- Work with Grinder Operator to ensure all customer requirements are met
- Train with Grinder Operator to have the ability to work with less supervision
- Read and interpret charts, drawings, and blueprints
- Determine product specifications such as dimensions, tolerances, and number of parts to be ground
- Collect and assemble required products
- Support the job to mount grinding wheels
- Dress wheel according to specifications, while using dressing devices with supervision
- Support in changing worn grinding wheels
- Inspect grinding wheels for cracks and report possible flaws in the wheels
- Run stampers as required
- Utilize micrometers, calipers, and preset gauges
- Use automatic work-feeding devices
- Use proper wheel guards on all grinding machines
- Adheres to and follows Ontario Health & Safety Act, Company Policies, Procedures and Work Instructions
- Maintains and upkeeps general housekeeping requirements of Grinding Department

**KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES**:

- Must have the ability to do basic math (shop math)
- Ability to follow specifications read blueprints and job orders for such information as dimensions, tolerance and number of work pieces to be machine
- Understand tooling requirements to operate machines in the department
- Demonstrated ability to perform a sequence of operations under minimum supervision and consistently maintain the performance level set for quality and quantity.
- Demonstrated ability to set-up and run standard machine operations to specified tolerances and operational sequences. Must recognize problems and react accordingly. Could involve work on all machines in area.
- Understanding of safety rules and regulations to prevent unsafe set-ups, runs and acts which may cause injury to self, others or environment.

**EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE**
- Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent, and specialized machine operation training or trade school related training or;
- 2+ years in relative role within a high-volume manufacturing environment
