The Planner III is a senior-level planning professional responsible for leading advanced planning initiatives and resolving complex challenges in shipbuilding projects. This role requires in-depth expertise to interpret organizational and customer needs, recommend best practices, and collaborate across multiple value streams. Acting as a key liaison with senior leadership, the Planner III ensures project success by driving strategic planning efforts and providing technical guidance to the planning team.
**Note: Due to business needs, this position is required to be fully on-site based at 50 Pemberton Avenue, North Vancouver.**
**What you’ll do**
- Develop and manage detailed production schedules, integrating multiple value streams to align with project timelines and budget constraints.
- Identify and implement industry-leading planning methodologies to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Serve as the primary planning representative in cross-departmental meetings, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
- Provide guidance to junior and mid-level planners, lead planning projects, and facilitate focus groups within larger programs.
- Assume supervisory responsibilities in the absence of the supervisor, prioritizing tasks and ensuring deliverables are met.
- Work closely with senior leadership, engineering, production, test and trials, and procurement teams to align planning strategies with company and customer objectives.
- Monitor project performance metrics, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies.
- Maintain accurate records of planning activities while adhering to organizational policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
**What you’ll bring**
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, project management, or a related field.
- Master’s degree is considered an asset.
- Advanced certifications (e.g., Red Seal or equivalent Trade Certification, PMP, Lean Six Sigma, EIT/P.Eng.).
- Experience in trades, planning, or project management, preferably within shipbuilding or manufacturing.
- Proficiency in planning tools including MS Project, Cloudis CMPIC, Co-Console, Power BI and ERP systems; advanced Microsoft Office skills.
- Experience with automation using Python and VBA.
- Demonstrated ability to lead projects, foster team collaboration, and drive high-performance outcomes.
- Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills to address complex planning issues.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, capable of influencing stakeholders at all levels.
- In depth knowledge of shipbuilding processes across electrical, piping, mechanical, and steel value streams, and customer requirements.
- Extensive experience in baseline and change planning for electrical cables.
