Criminal Lawyer/associate

**Job description**
Looking for a motivated associate to assist with our criminal defence law practice on a full-time basis.
**Job Duties**:
Assist senior counsel with case preparation through client meetings, reviewing disclosure, and legal research.
Must be able to attend the Niagara Detention Centre on a weekly basis to speak with clients as well as other detention centres as needed.
**Qualifications**:
Juris Doctor degree or equivalent from a recognized law school.
Lawyer in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario
Must have access to a car for travel to detention centres and other court locations.
Excellent knowledge of criminal evidence and procedure.
Strong advocacy (written and oral) skills.
**Other**:

Possession of a legal aid solicitor number is preferred.
Preference will be given to applicants with 1 year experience or more in criminal law.
**Salary**: minimum of $80,000 (to be commensurate with experience; other financial incentives)
**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: From $80,000.00 per year
Flexible language requirement:
- French not required
Schedule:
- Monday to Friday
- Weekends as needed
Licence/Certification:
- L1 license wth Law Society of Ontario (required)
