MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Working under the supervision and guidance of the RPN in charge and/or Memory Care Manager
For UCPS: Contributes within the scope as a team member in the assessment, treatment, provision of care and health promotion for all residents through supportive, therapeutic, palliative and rehabilitative means while adhering to the standards mandated by the College of Nurses of Ontario
Assists residents with all Activities of Daily Living (ADL) which includes, but not limited to personal hygiene, meals, transfers/mobility, life enrichment and toileting
Documentation per Pretty River and RHRA standards
Maintains a clean and safe environment including making beds, collecting and laundering soiled linens and clothing, emptying bed pans, urinals and commodes, remove unsafe objects from use, and clean resident equipment including walkers and wheelchairs
One and two-person transfers required, as well as the use of mechanical lifts
Keeps Pretty River's leadership aware of any incidents involving resident, family and/or staff, including near misses, injuries, unsafe work habits or working conditions
Provides housekeeping duties as required throughout the shift such as sweeping floors, cleaning spills, cleaning and disinfecting
Helps with food plating, portioning and serving

Qualifications:
Personal Support Worker's certificate program (or Developmental Service worker - DSW) through a recognized College or accredited educational institution
Experience in long-term care settings as well as experience with older adults living with dementia
Current Vulnerability Screening Check within the last 6 months
Current C.P.R.
Food Handlers certification is an asset or will train
GPA is an asset or will train
PIECES and/or Montessori certification preferred
An ability to take direction as well as take initiative to safely provide care and programs to meet the individualized resident's needs
The PSW will need to work both independently and collaboratively within an interprofessional team maintaining a positive attitude and energy while in the Home.

Working Conditions:
Resident Associates are required to work one of three shifts (Day - 7:00 am to 3:00 pm, Evenings - 3:00 pm to 11:00 pm and Nights - 11:00 pm to 7:00 am). and will need to monitor and interact with each of the residents throughout the shift. While on shift they will be expected to be moving around the home engaging with the residents and completing the requirements listed in the job description. There will be 2-3 other PSWs doing similar work in the Home on each shift.
