**Working Title**: Cloud Architecture Specialist **Reports to**: Director, Information Technology and Cloud Solutions **Based in**:Ottawa, ON **Term**: Contract (9 months) **Company** **Position** We are looking for a Cloud Architecture Specialist who will advance the cloud-based platform that supports and secures Nanometrics products and services. This individual leads the strategic planning and evolution of cloud solutions. The Cloud Specialist effectively manages costs, ensuring that the organization archives the maximum value from our cloud providers, and ensures that costs and benefits are communicated and understood by the appropriate business teams. **Job Duties** - Learning and understanding our desired business outcomes, and using their technical expertise to ensure that the outcomes are achieved - Communicating the recommended best practices to technical and business teams - Using their expertise to identify opportunities to promote a "cloud first" mentality across the business. - Creating and implementing plans to move legacy on-premise solutions to the cloud wherever possible - Using software automation to replace manual processes - Creating an efficient solution for 24/7 monitoring and SLA assurance - Mentoring other team members **Key Competencies** - A team-oriented focus: working in a high transparency, high accountability, fun environment where we help and learn from others - A focus on ensuring the best possible customer outcomes - A thorough understanding of and experience with a major cloud provider such as Amazon AWS - Ability to share technical knowledge to educate others - Demonstrable experience of defining and agreeing an appropriate cloud platform and architecture strategy for an organization - Experience in a fast paced, mission critical environment with multiple, competing demands - An interest in skills development and learning new things - An enthusiasm for DevOps **Requirements**: - A BSc or diploma in Engineering, Computer Science, Networking Technology, IT or a related field - A minimum of 4 years’ experience in an IT, systems engineering, or software development position that focused on a cloud platform - Experience defining, presenting, and explaining cloud platform and architecture strategies - Experience with scripting and programming languages - Experience with Kubernetes and Docker, preferably with EKS - Availability for occasional escalation support for Nanometrics 24/7 mission-critical cloud-based systems - An understanding of networking concepts (DNS, TCP/IP, UDP, etc) and cloud networking concepts (VPC, subnetting, security, etc) **Assets** - Experience migrating on premise networks to the cloud - Software development experience such as Python scripting and/or SQL databases would be helpful - A preference for cloud first thinking - A focus on data-driven continuous improvement - Nanometrics is an equal opportunity employer.
