Established in 1989, Central Hastings Early Education & Childcare is a non-profit, licensed childcare centre run by a volunteer board of directors. We FOSTER THE CHILDREN’S EXPLORATION, PLAY and INQUIRY through CHILD-INITIATED and ADULT-SUPPORTED EXPERIENCES". Central Hastings Early Education & Childcare is seeking a full-time Early Childhood Assistant to join our team. Qualifications: - Up-to-date Standard First Aid training and CPR level C. - Clear Criminal Reference Check, including Vulnerable Screening through a local police department or the O.P.P., within 6 months - Up-to-date immunization record. - Reliable vehicle. - Experience in childcare is an asset. Job Skills and Characteristics: - Experience working with Toddlers, Preschool, and School-age is an asset. - Flexibility and availability (Monday to Friday between 5:30 am-7:00 pm). - Ability to work as part of a team or independently. - Working knowledge of child development and How Does Learning Happen. - Effective communication both verbally and written. - Effective problem solving and conflict resolution skill. - Patient, Understanding, and Empathetic. - Reliable, flexible, and enjoys working outside in all weather. **Responsibilities**: - Programing and planning align with emergent curriculum that is play and inquiry focused and working cooperatively with co-workers. - Ensure compliance with provincial licensing and health requirements, standards, and guidelines. - Assist in implementing program activities using play-based learning and appropriate for specific age groups and individual children including but not limited to: loose parts, risk-taking, process art. - Perform general and routine cleaning duties. - Maintain effective supervision while actively engaging in children’s learning and play. - Provide positive child guidance and support children in developing self-regulation and problem-solving strategies. - Develop open/honest professional relationships with families and co-educators, communicating daily and positively regarding children’s skills, development, behavior's, and interests. - Participate in professional development opportunities and extra-curricular activities such as parade, open houses, staff Christmas parties, ect.. - Comfortable with documentation, communication, and reports. **Job Types**: Part-time, Casual Pay: $18.00-$24.00 per hour **Benefits**: - Casual dress - Flexible schedule - On-site parking Work Location: In person
