Are you ready to contribute to Air Canada's next chapter? Reporting to the Senior Manager, Financial Analysis, this position will be primarily responsible for leading evaluations of strategic corporate projects. The individual will develop complex financial models in support of decision-making processes and will have full ownership of the financial evaluation of projects from beginning to end. He/she will be involved in discussions with senior management and/or executive management when required. The individual will ensure a consistently high-level of quality in service provided relative to both timeliness and accuracy.
**Description**
- Provide guidance and leadership while demonstrating a strong understanding of all cost areas related to the airline's operations, as well as overall airline strategy.
- Development of complex financial models to evaluate key decisions related to fleet composition and multibillion dollar fleet renewal programs. Provide financial analysis to the Aircraft Programs group in support of key tactical fleet decision.
- Working with all levels of the Commercial group, develop financial models and provide financial analysis and guidance related to aircraft deployment and new routes. Manage the costing of various ad hoc requests, including charter and ferry flights.
- Build cash flow projection model to support the development of freighters, a growing side of the Cargo business that promises increased revenue opportunities.
- Work closely with the Alliances group to develop and maintain a strong understanding of the complex relationships and agreements with various partners. Develop working relationship with potential airline partners in building a framework for these agreements.
- Lead financial modeling to support the development of new joint-venture partnerships. Participate in negotiations with other airlines and provide financial guidance and support to the team.
- Develop a strong understanding of the increasingly complex relationships/ contracts with our regional partners. Lead the development of complex financial models to support key regional fleet, deployment and contract decisions.
- Work with various client groups, both within the Finance branch and across the company, to guide, develop and/or improve business decision-making processes, models and tools. Develop strong relationships with various internal clients and work closely to drive improved financial performance.
- Develop and maintain an in-depth knowledge of activities/issues/trends pertaining to the airline industry domestically and internationally, as well as aircraft economics.
- Perform the development of complex benchmarking studies with other carriers.
**Qualifications**
- Undergraduate degree in Finance with 5 - 8 years of relevant experience
- Graduate studies (MBA or Masters in Finance) and/ or an accounting/a financial designation (CPA/CMA/CGA /CFA) would be a definite asset
- Excellent understanding of cost accounting principles, financial evaluation techniques and statistical analysis
- Very strong business and analytical skills
- Very strong financial modelling skills
- Leader and self-starter with demonstrated strong financial, technical skills and creativity
- Flexible work schedule and ability to handle numerous and varied projects simultaneously
- Demonstrated project management skills
- Keen interest and experience in the airline industry
- Strong sense of initiative and work ethic
- Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work with others
- Strong organizational skills and ability to shift priorities and work under pressure
- High degree of proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Access and PowerPoint) and Power BI (optional)
