**Join Our Team as Purchasing Manager**

Are you a strategic thinker with a passion for efficiency, sustainability, and community impact? Join the K’ómoks First Nation team as our new Purchasing Manager — a key leadership role that supports smart purchasing decisions and helps shape our nation’s financial and operational success.

As the Purchasing Manager, you will oversee the full spectrum of procurement operations for KFN — from developing policies and cost-saving strategies to managing vendor relationships and ensuring compliance with relevant laws. You’ll collaborate across departments to ensure we get the best value while upholding transparency and sustainability in all purchases.

**What You'll Do**:

- Design and implement purchasing policies and systems with sustainability in mind
- Lead procurement strategies, cost-reduction initiatives, and supplier evaluations
- Oversee competitive bid processes such as RFPs and tenders
- Monitor vendor performance and address risks, claims, and contract issues
- Manage insurance, inventory, and asset disposal processes
- Train staff on procurement best practices and risk management
- Prepare budgets, reports, and briefings for senior staff and Council
- Stay current with best practices in First Nations and public sector purchasing

**What We're Looking For**:

- Strong knowledge of public sector procurement practices, regulations, and laws
- Familiarity with inventory systems, budgeting, and financial controls
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, and decision-making skills
- Proven leadership and organizational abilities with a collaborative mindset
- Comfort managing complex projects, including risk and claims
- Cultural sensitivity and understanding of First Nations governance and communities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe, and financial management tools

**Qualifications**:

- Diploma in Supply Chain Management, CPPB certification, or a business degree
- 5+ years of purchasing experience, ideally in a First Nations or public sector setting
- 3+ years managing complex procurement projects, including risk/claims
- Supervisory experience strongly preferred
- Familiarity with MMCD contracts, GST/PST, and trade agreements
- Membership in SCC and/or NIGP is an asset
- Valid BC Class 5 driver’s license required
