The Drop-In Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting the operations of both the Drop-In and Navigation & Access departments at Weston King Neighbourhood Centre (WKNC). By collaborating closely with the Drop-In Coordinator and Navigation & Access Coordinator, the Drop-In Assistant ensures the seamless delivery of services, advocacy, and support to the community and populations served.
- **Key Responsibilities**:_
- i. Drop-In Services Support_
- Assist in the implementation and oversight of drop-in services at WKNC under the guidance of the Drop-In Coordinator and Drop-In Manager
- Support the delivery of core drop-in services such as daily meal services, weekly grocery distribution, laundry/shower appointments, clothing room and distribution of basic needs items.
- Manage and maintain non-food inventory and donations, including procurement of supplies and record-keeping.
- Participate in the recruitment, training, and management of volunteers and placement students within the drop-in department.
- Ensure the safety and inclusivity of program spaces in accordance with partner/funder agreements.
- Assisting the custodian to maintain a clean and safe environment
- ii. Program Development and Administration:_
- Support the development and implementation of programming at WKNC, including social activities, workshops, events, and community-wide initiatives.
- Assist participants, students, and volunteers in setting and achieving personal or professional goals and action plans.
- Contribute to the completion of progress reports, evaluations, and other required documentation for program monitoring.
- Provide input and recommendations for improving organizational functions and policies related to program delivery.
- iii. Advocacy and Partnership Support:_
- Collaborate with the Navigation & Access Coordinator to provide advocacy-related services to participants, with a focus on housing, income support, and other essential needs.
- Support partnership development and management by coordinating outreach activities to address participant needs.
- iv. Management and Coordination:_
- Assist in day-to-day program running with the Drop-In Manager.
- Participate in supervising students and volunteers, ensuring adherence to policies and performance standards.
- **Qualifications**:_
- Degree/Diploma in social service/work, or related post-secondary education.
- Office, organizational and administration skills is an asset.
- Experience working in a community-based organization or social services setting.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a diverse team environment.
- Knowledge of advocacy principles and experience in providing support to marginalized populations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and database management software.
- Lived-experience is considered an asset.
- **Working Conditions**:_
- This position _will _require evening and weekend work.
- This position _may _require weekly sessions offsite within the community.
- The role will involve interacting with individuals experiencing homelessness, mental health challenges, and or substance use issues.
- WKNC is a small organization and all team members may be required to assist in tasks that are not specifically listed in key responsibilities

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $47,000.00-$50,000.00 per year
