Questions about this collection of personal information should be directed to the Human Resources & Corporate Safety Division, 125 Syndicate Ave Suite 42, Thunder Bay, Ontario, P7E 6H8, Telephone: 625-3866 Application forms must reference the competition number and be submitted to Human Resources by 11:59 p.m. on the closing date. **Job Description**: ***: Under the general supervision of the Clinical Manager and the direction of the registered nurse on duty, participates as a member of a multidisciplinary care team in the provision of care for the residents. **MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES**: - Provides basic nursing care based on each resident’s developed care plan and within the framework of an established nursing program. - Encourages and supports resident participation in activities of daily living. - Provides input into the development and maintenance of resident care plans and participates in resident care conferences. - Reports changes in residents’ physical and mental condition to the Registered Nurse and documents as per policy. - Completes all required documentation including resident flow sheets. - Participates in maintaining a safe environment for residents and staff, demonstrating an appropriate response to emergencies and safety procedures. - Performs such other related duties as may be assigned. **QUALIFICATIONS**: *** **Education/Experience**: - Successful completion of a recognized personal support worker program approved by the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care; or - Enrolled at a college or university in the registered practical nursing or registered nursing program **Skills/Abilities**: - A genuine interest and understanding of the needs of the elderly is necessary - Ability to communicate effectively and concisely, both orally and in writing - Must be competent within the meaning of the Occupational Health and Safety Act **Assets**: - Experience in caring for the elderly - Certification in CPR **PHYSICAL DEMANDS**: This position requires constant standing/walking; frequent squatting/crouching; unilateral lifting 1- 25 lbs. frequently, bilateral lifting 50+ lbs. frequently, 15 - 75 lbs. occasionally; push/pull 5 - 100 lbs. frequently. Occasional = up to 33% of working day; Frequent = 34 - 66% of working day; Constant = 67 - 100% of working day. **CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT**: - Must undergo a successful Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) - Must provide proof of full COVID-19 vaccination at point of conditional offer - Prior to commencing employment, will be required to review and attest/affirm to all Pioneer Ridge Staff Immunization Policies - Must have successfully undergone a "two step" tuberculosis skin test within the 12 months prior to employment - Prior to commencing employment, must undergo a successful Offence & Professional Misconduct Declaration Process - Must successfully complete all mandatory training as required by the Corporation on an annual basis
