**Hours of work**:Full-time, seasonal (3-4 months), 35 hours week. Weekend and holiday availability required.
**Fort Steele Heritage Town** is a living history site dedicated to the preservation, interpretation, and enhancement of British Columbia’s rich heritage. Fort Steele serves as a cultural and educational resource, engaging visitors in the stories, traditions, and historical significance of the Region. **Position Summary**
Reporting to the Operations Supervisor - Heritage Street Studio Photographer is dedicated to operating our vintage-style Photo Studio location with enthusiastic, exceptional guest service and operational skills. Studio Photographers strive to provide best in class guest experience to all who visit the photo studio. Our friendly interactions, commitment to creating and maintaining a fun vibrant environment, and attention to visual standards, will connect our guests with the experience we provide and the memories we shape.
**Position Duties and Responsibilities**
- Conduct photo sessions with guests courteously and efficiently, helping to select and dress guests in period costumes, set design with props and lighting, printing photos and utilizing selling skills to upsell products
- Attract guests to the location with outgoing engagement when not in photo sessions, interacting with guests around park to promote the studio
- Act in character in relation to a 1900s environment (mínimal)
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and merchandising standards at the location, ensuring visual appeal is maintained
- Stay informed about new products, promotions, and Heritage activities
- Promptly and responsibly address customer feedback to ensure guest satisfaction
- Handle cash transactions and perform basic opening and closing duties with accuracy and attention to detail as required
- Make recommendations to the leadership team on improving the employee and guest experience
- Assist with the setup and teardown of seasonal events and merchandise at various stores
- Provide an exceptional visitor experience through friendly and courteous interactions with guests, staff, and volunteers, using polite greetings, actively acknowledging guests, and handling situations positively
Perform other duties as required
**Knowledge and Experience**
- Prior experience in specialty/boutique retail or retail environment would be an asset
- Photography experience is an asset
- Adaptability, flexibility and a willingness to learn new things and be exposed to all aspects of our retail operation
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team
- Demonstrated strong interpersonal and communication skills in a client-faced setting
- An understanding of Indigenous relations in this region; additionally, familiarity with the Truth and Reconciliation Commission and the relevant Calls to Action for Museums is an asset. This knowledge can be through education, lived or worked experience.
