Faculty of Business, Environment and Technology is looking for a Program Chair - Sustainability, Energy and Environment. This is a three-year term position, and the role will report to the Academic Program Manager and will work closely with the Faculty Dean, Vice-Dean and Business Operations Manager to establish, implement and achieve goals and objectives for the program portfolio. The program portfolio is dynamic and includes three programs, namely Sustainability Coordinator Diploma (which is under development and will be launched in Fall 2025, with the second Diploma specialization launching in Fall 2026), Energy Management Diploma and Environmental Technician Diploma. The primary role of the Program Chair is to provide academic leadership and management to promote teaching and learning at the program level. The Program Chair will be responsible for curriculum development and sustainment, learner experiences and successes, as well as instructional leadership for all instructors in the program. Some programs in this portfolio are offered in collaboration with the Faculty of Arts and Science. Building strong collaborative relationships is essential for student success. The Chair will also be required to teach.

**Management of Program Development and Delivery**
Lead the ongoing evolution of the program portfolio by engaging in collaborative reviews. Collaborating with relevant departments to ensure that new curriculum and curriculum reviews reflect culturally relevant curricula that reflect the lived experiences, histories, and varied knowledge systems.
**Faculty Support and Development**
Foster a community of learning by recruiting and guiding faculty who prioritize inclusion and demonstrate curiosity.
**Departmental and College Planning**
Advocate for the programs’ needs by emphasizing holistic approaches that value the well-being of faculty, students and community. Engage in planning that prioritizes sustainability, equity, and justice, ensuring that financial and operational decisions reflect the shared values of the community.
**Student Success**
Promote and support sound adult educational strategies that are grounded in respect, inclusivity, and diverse ways of knowing. Collaborate with internal college teams to advocate for and manage student admission criteria. Monitor student academic performance from a holistic lens.
**Internal and External Liaison**
Build bridges within internal and external community. Create open lines of communication with community members, including advisory committees, indigenous knowledge keepers, and industry leaders. Enhance and develop pathways for learners to engage, serve, uplift, and support in community. Promote and participate in teaching excellence that advocates the unique needs of learners from various perspectives.
**WHAT YOU BRING**:
- A relevant post-secondary education, Master Degree preferred
- Minimum three years of teaching and curriculum development experience in post-secondary environment, preferably in the following areas:
- Natural resource planning, conservation or protection
- Sustainability fields
- Natural resource extraction and development
- Life Sciences
- Experience instructing in an adult education environment is required.
- Previous academic activities should include but are not limited to:
- Facilitating learning
- Advocating for learners
- Using teaching and learning strategies
- Developing curriculum
- Evaluating
- Curriculum development
- Pursuing applied research or professional scholarly activities
- Experience with post-secondary processes and procedures is desirable.

**SALARY**:Chairs are paid based on the Faculty grid with a stipend to reflect the additional administrative and supervisory responsibilities. This amount is determined based on the amount, complexity, and scope of additional responsibilities.
This is a Faculty role, and the pay range is quite large, check out the Faculty Collective Agreement Appendix A to better understand how pay is determined.
