**Key Responsibilities and Duties**
- Working closely and collaboratively with the newsroom team, develop story ideas of importance and relevance to the people who live in Hamilton, Halton, Niagara.
- Monitor multiple news sources daily, develop and assign stories to journalists, camera operators and editors.
- Manage workflows to ensure deadlines are met.
- Instruct and deploy VJs, reporters, writers, camera operators, editors and others for television and digital newsgathering
- Keep track of ongoing stories and events for follow-up coverage
- Conduct research and keep meticulous files
- Maintain and develop contacts in our regions
- Conduct interviews as needed
- Write copy and update our digital news services
- Other duties as required

**Qualifications and Skills**:

- 10 years of journalistic experience preferred with at least one year of editorial decision-making experience in a major-market newsroom
- A proven ability to work within a team environment
- A proven ability to lead within a team environment
- A proven ability to identify and develop strong story ideas
- Demonstrable knowledge of current events in Hamilton, Halton, Brant and Niagara
- A demonstrable ability to multi-task
- Strong spelling and grammar skills
- Superior organizational skills
- Must be prepared to work various shifts
- A broadcast diploma or equivalent
- A valid driver’s license and a clean driving record
- A working knowledge of ENPS
