**Job Overview**:
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Relief Workers interested in joining our relief pool. As a Relief Worker you can set your own schedule and hours accepting casual shifts based on what works for you. As a Relief Worker you ensure a consistent level of care and support to adults with disabilities. Multiple opportunities exist across the province.
There are a variety of ways relief work happens. You could be provide in-home companionship while the primary caregiver is away in their home, you could be out in community supporting someone to access recreation, social activities, etc., or you could have individuals come to your home to provide companionship and care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with daily personal care tasks, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
- Administer medication as per prescribed schedules and document accordingly.
- Provide mobility support and transfer assistance.
Emotional Support:
- Foster a positive and inclusive environment.
- Build meaningful relationships with individuals with disabilities, promoting socialization and companionship.
- Act as an empathetic listener and provide emotional support as needed.
Daily Living Skills:
- Support individuals in developing and maintaining daily living skills, such as cooking, cleaning, and managing personal finances.
- Encourage and facilitate participation in recreational and social activities.
Communication and Documentation:
- Maintain clear and accurate records of daily activities, care provided, and any significant changes in health or behavior.
- Communicate effectively with their primary caregiver.
Crisis Intervention:
- Respond calmly and effectively to crisis situations, implementing appropriate procedures and ensuring the safety.
- Follow established protocols for reporting incidents or emergencies.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; relevant certifications in healthcare or social services are a plus.
- Previous experience working with disabled adults or a similar population is highly desirable.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with individuals with diverse abilities.
- Understanding of and commitment to maintaining confidentiality and respecting the rights and dignity of disabled adults.
- CPR and First Aid certification, or willing to obtain.
- Current Criminal Record Check
