**Family Resource Worker**

Term: Full-time

Salary Range: $56,800 - $67,820 (Depending on education and experience)

As a Family Resource Worker, you will have a culturally meaningful opportunity to work with families of the Whitefish River First Nation, focusing on children up to 18 years old. The role involves identifying family strengths and needs, creating Family Service Plans, and advocating for families alongside the Child and Family Well-Being Coordinator.

**Responsibilities**:

- Provide a culturally appropriate, safe, and holistic approach to child and family service delivery, especially regarding child welfare.
- Research, develop, implement, and evaluate culturally/appropriate early intervention and prevention programs specific to child welfare.
- Develop strategies and tools to support quality programming for families and children, including parent/caregiver support groups, youth support groups, Triple P Parenting, Anger Management, and Life Skills.
- Host information sessions on child welfare, including WRFN’s approach to child welfare, the roles and responsibilities of the child welfare team, the roles and responsibilities of a child welfare committee, the foster care program, etc.
- Develop and submit the annual work plan, program descriptions, and monthly reports as required.
- Be willing to coordinate and take minutes for various committees and/or working groups.
- Coordinate and participate, alongside the Family Well-Being Coordinator, in case conference meetings, sharing circles, or family intervention meetings.
- Assist with the advocacy of children and their families that are either before the Courts or being investigated by the Children’s Aid Society/Kina Gbezhgomi Child and Family Services.

**Qualifications**:

- BSW or B.A. Degree in Social Services, Native Child and Family Worker, or Child and Youth Worker Diploma.
- Aware of Health and Safety and Child and Family Services legislation.
- Knowledge of typical and atypical Indigenous child development.
- Knowledge, respect, and understanding of Anishinabek culture, traditions, and language.

**Skills**:

- Strong understanding of colonization and its impacts on Anishinaabe communities (Intergenerational Trauma resulting from IRS, Day Schools, 60’s Scoop, child welfare, etc.).
- Ability to make connections with community members.
- Must work independently and with mínimal supervision.
- Ability to work and manage confidential and sensitive information.

Must provide a clear Police Vulnerable Sector Check upon hire.
