Lumber Yard Receiver

**HOURS: 7:00AM to 5:30PM (Mon - Friday)**

**8:00 AM TO 3:00PM (Saturday)**

**JOB DESCRIPTION**:
Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Yard Receiver is responsible for the efficient and effective coordination of all incoming shipments and merchandise at our company. He or she must execute with all safety precautions in mind. This position will ensure that all items are received, stored, and distributed in an organized and timely manner. This is a fast-paced environment and you must be extremely organized with the ability to multi-task.

**DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES**:
ú Check incoming merchandise against orders or invoices, identify damaged goods, shortages, and backorders.

ú Ensure that all incoming shipments are accurately and promptly unloaded and stored in correct locations in the yard.

ú Must safely operate equipment required for efficient yard receiving, including forklifts, pallet jacks, ladders, etc.

ú Be familiar with the locations(s) of all inventory and equipment.

ú Keep the yard clean and the inventory neat and orderly.

ú Be aware of theft and take action, in line with company policy, to report or discourage it.

ú Report any shortages, damaged goods, and backorders to your supervisor.

ú Make suggestions for rule, policy, and/or procedure changes when you think that such changes will improve efficiency, morale, profits, sales, etc.

ú Help in training new employees.

ú Work on additional duties and any special projects assigned by your supervisor, after determining their priority in relation to your other duties.

ú Work in a safe manner in accordance to provincial and federal safety legislation, as well as use of good common sense. Report any potential hazards and unsafe behavior to management in order to have the situation corrected.

ú Attend meetings, training sessions etc. as required

ú Other duties as assigned by Manager

**QUALIFICATIONS**:
ú High School graduation or equivalent.

ú Extremely organized and able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

ú Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends.

ú Must move materials weighing up to 100 pounds to or from the yard, placing them on or removing them from trucks, pallets, etc.

ú Physically active job in possibly inclement weather conditions (hot in summer/cold in winter)

ú Must be able to communicate effectively with customers, management, and employees.

ú Must be alert to all yard activities to help customers, use equipment properly, help in loss control and yard safety and security measures, etc.

ú Must read and comprehend written and printed materials, as well as information presented in numerical form.

ú Must safely operate yard equipment and tools, including forklift, pallet jack, lumber cart, banding machine, radial arm saw, etc.

ú Ability to work co-operatively in a team atmosphere.

**Salary**: $20.00-$24.00 per hour
